Yokohama, Japan

Skyscrapers and blinding lights was something the nemesis once adored. When she was a kid she loved her trips to the city, specifically at night. Now they gave her a feeling of nostalgia and tranquility.

Twirling the umbrella in between her fingers she gazed at the building in front of her, drops of water falling in her view in a rhythmic pattern.

The puddles shook as two children rushed through them
"Isoide, isoide, okāsan ga watashitachi o matteimasu" (hurry, hurry, mom is waiting on us) the eldest boy scolded as his younger sibling struggled to catch up

"Watashi o mattete kudasai!"(wait for me!) The younger boy pleaded as his sibling dissapeared up the stairs
The brunette watched, a soft look in her eyes
She once again directed her gaze back to building, breathing softly she followed the boys up the stairs

Walking up a few floors she paused in front of a door, her enhanced hearing allowing her to hear much clearly

"Watashi wa anata ni kasa o toru yō ni otokonoko ni iimashita, ima anata o mitekudasai" (I told you boys to take an umbrella, now look at you) the voice of an older woman scolded loudly

A small smile reached her lips as the boys groaned in answer. Her hand paused momentarily, debating her next move. She closed her eyes gently and knocked

"Darekaga doa ni imasu"(someone's at the door) a soft voice of a small girl said quietly. That being said complete silence enveloped the room

Knocking once more, rushed footsteps approached the door. A woman, around her late 20s opened the door, a look of hesitation on her face as she saw her

"Ikaga nasaimashita ka"(can I help you?) She asked politely at the unknown woman
The brunette closed her umbrella and reached into her pocket

"im looking for the owner of this necklace "she stated as the necklace dangled in front of the woman's face

Her eyes widened as the grip she had on the door loosened

"How do you have that " an unknown voice asked from behind the woman

Turning their eyes to the source an older woman stood there
"O bāchan"(grandma)one of the boys called out from his spot in the living room
The brunette lowered the necklace she slowly walked towards the woman

"It was my mothers" she revealed her eyes lowering to the woman's neck where it's missing half pendant rested "and it seems like you knew her" she finished out. The older woman shakingly let out a sob

"Tea?" The younger woman whose name was revealed as Emi asked holding the kettle

The brunette nodded in response with a polite smile

The older woman sat in front of her, her eyes never leaving the brunette

The nemesis relaxed in her seat, her hands resting on her lap

"You've really grown up" The older woman stated causing the brunette to meet her gaze

"You know me?" The brunette asked softly

The woman nodded, a warm smile on her face
"I did, as well as your mother" she said taking the tea her daughter offered her

"My mother.....who was she?" The brunette asked

The woman set her tea down gently

"Her name was Amelia" the woman said "she was my sister" the woman revealed

The brunette froze, her face with an unreadable expression

The woman smiled
"When I was 10 my parents traveled to America and adopted an orphan, that was your mother" the woman explained

The brunette pursed her lips

"She was hostile and cold, while I was simply excited to have another girl in the family. She did not like me." The woman laughed gently

"It took time for her to open up, to tell me things but once she did she let go. She had no parents, no family, she was born and raised in a facility, one ran by something called Hydra " she revealed

The brunette closed her eyes harshly

"She was a mere subject, used and trained for something she didn't know of. One day she escaped, she ran and ran until she couldn't. She had no salvation, or so she thought. My parents found her near the brink of death, it was clear she was neglected and malnourished. Once my family took her in she became the most caring and protective sister." The woman recalled

The brunette swallowed, her eyes fixed on the necklace in her hands

"It was wonderful, she had a family and I had a sister. It was perfect for nearly 10 years...until they found her. Our house cought on fire....with our parents inside. There was nothing left, nothing but that symbol on the walls. She knew  we were no longer safe so in order to protect me....she left" the woman said wiping her tears

"Four years....for four years I didn't hear a thing from her. I thought she was dead, gone. So when I saw her again with a 1 month old baby in her arms begging me to hide you both, I didn't know how to react. I had so many questions, but all she told me was that she had completed her mission." The woman breathed out

The brunette breathed shakingly

"She had gone back to them, she didn't speak of what happened in those years or what she went through.  She stayed with me for about a month before she took a decision. In order to keep you safe she decided to take you to the one person who could protect you...your father" she trailed off

The brunette rubbed her eyes repeatedly as her teary eyes met the woman's

"I never saw her or that baby again after that.....you know in that time you  were with me....I never asked her for a name" she admitted watching the brunette closely

The brunette sniffed softly as she fidgeted with the pendant

"She had a name, one chosen by her mother" she said gently

The woman gently removed her necklace and took the brunettes against hers, watching how they merged perfectly to complete each other

"The missing peace has been found" the woman whispered as she caressed the brunettes hands

The brunette breathed out a laugh and smiled

"What should i call you?" She asked looking up at the older woman

"You can call me Aunt Chiyo" the woman said smiling widely "what should I call you?" She continued

The brunette stood gently as she locked the necklace against her neck. Clenching the pendant she smiled

"Amara"

The truth can hurt, truth can heal. The nemesis had gone though both plenty of times. Her answers and doubts had been answered. She had a family. She once had a mom.

She started at folder in her hand with her mother's picture, and her mothers biological parents bellow. She once had grandparents she unfortunately couldn't meet. And one she knew to well.

Taking the biological fathers picture in her hand, she looked into those familiar eyes. Into that familiar face.
