The image of the thing seemed to come closer and closer to Vera as she stood transfixed, it was like watching a train approaching at full speed but being unable to jump out of the way.

Not today

Vera forced movement back into her bones, somehow finding a strength she didn't know she had. Vera grabbed hold of the bathroom sink mirror , pulling it out of its place in the walls and lobbing it with spontaneous accuracy out the window

She heard a chuckle from her room and jumped while undressed to the large mirror in her room, finding the thing there in its repulsive glory she smashed the mirror. Next came its hand from her small face mirror which got lobbed out of the window too, then an even smaller mirror which joined the others, shattering on the ground outside

Vera locked her room; she figured if it spawned from somewhere outside and it wanted to get her, it wouldn't be able to. Vera couldn't shake the feeling that even if it was inhuman, there were still rules he had to or wanted to abide by.

Sure enough, Vera heard a knocking and then a pounding on her door merely a few seconds later. However, she wasn't about to answer

"Open the door, open the fucking door, don't make it worse for yourself" It howled in a voice Vera remembered well.

That voice....that night....why did it have to remind her of that night

It was evil, pure evil that it brought back the memories of that night; one she had fought so hard to bury

"Shut up....shut up...." Vera screamed

"Be a good girl, my darling Vera" it howled with malice, roaring with laughter

The dark doors of memories that she had closed for so long opened with a crash and sucked vera into the cold embrace of the past.

Vera hunterson lay under her bed, curled in a ball as cold sweat flowed freely from her body along with a torrent of something warm that flowed from between her legs. Her heartbeat raced, nearly exploding and she found herself shivering unstoppably; her eyes were focused on one thing, the only thing standing between her and him

"Open up now," her father said, knocking heavily on the door "don't drag this on too long

The door wasn't holding too well to his relentless hammering, Vera even heard a screw break loose. It was only a matter of time before he got in and did what he wanted

" I'll count to ten and then I'll leave," he said "your sister's door is open, after all"

"1...2......3.....4.....5" he counted "6.....7.......8........9....."

The door unlocked to reveal a man with a smile, that smile.

"You won't do that to me" Vera screamed, falling on her knees in tears "I won't let you do that to me"

Vera noticed the knocking was gone; the damage was done and the thing had retreated. A beautiful quiet filled the night air, interrupted by sobs that went on through the night

With eyes full of tears, Vera saw the wighead she had put on her study table look at her with a plastic smile from its place on the floor.
