Wilbur's flight home went smoothly, for the most part. He slept through most of it, if he was being honest, though he did watch a bit of a movie he'd been wanting to see. The landing was the only bad part, really. There was a small amount of interference towards the end of the flight, but not enough to make it too horrible. It was quite stormy in London that evening. Wilbur wondered how long it had been going on and whether or not it bothered Vee. They'd never talked about storms. Did she like them? Or did they scare her?

Most of the time, she loved them. She found them comforting but being woken up in an unfamiliar place to her boyfriend's apartment building shaking and thunder crashing loudly was a little unsettling. When her sleep was interrupted, she checked the time. 10:23 P.M. She wondered for a moment what time it was back home, but her drowsy thoughts were quickly disrupted by yet another clash of thunder.

Sighing, she curled herself up in Wil's fluffy blanket and slowly made her way back into the living room. She figured that she might be more comfortable there, having been there more than the bedroom since Niki and she spent their time hanging out in there. She sat on the couch, finding the remote to put a comfort movie on to try to drown out the sound of the thunder slightly so she could attempt to fall asleep again. Vee was still exhausted; She could barely keep her eyes open. Stupid jetlag.

Wilbur, on the other hand, was wide awake. He could hardly stay still in the Uber on the way to his house. He had never wished that he lived closer to the airport until this moment. He couldn't wait to see Vee. It felt like it had been so long, way too long. Sure, they texted each other every day and called and FaceTimed when they could, but being able to see her again...

"You alright, mate?"

Wilbur looked up, noticing that the Uber driver was looking at him through the rearview mirror. "Uh, pardon?"

He laughed lightly, shaking his head. "I was asking if you were alright. Looks like you're nervous," he said. "You know, lookin' around everywhere and stuff like that."

Wil let out a sigh of relief, chuckling a bit himself. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm alright. Just a bit, um, excited, I suppose." Seeing the slight confusion on the driver's face, he explained, "My long-distance girlfriend is at my flat right now. I haven't seen her for a long time, so-"

"She's at your flat and you were at the airport? Bit odd, innit?"

"Yeah, it's a long story."

"We've got time if you'd like to share. No pressure."

There's something about Uber that make some people want to overshare just about anything. I mean, getting things off your chest to a random stranger who you're likely to never see again? Plus, gets rid of some of the awkward silence. This being said, Wilbur didn't really mind explaining his situation to his kind-looking driver.

"We may have accidentally both flew out to see each other at the same time?" he chuckled. "She's been having a bit of trouble, you know, finding a place to live... well, no, not trouble. She found a place to live, but I'm not exactly too comfortable with the people she's chosen, so I flew to California to try to convince her not to or something, but apparently, she thought that this would also be the perfect time to fly out here to surprise me, so."

"Aw, that's cute. Both of you getting flights at the same time," Mr. Driver Man said. Wilbur nodded, looking out the window when the driver asked a question: "If you don't like the people she wants to live with, why don't you ask her to move in with you? Or would that be too soon for you two?"

Wil looked at the driver, his question never having crossed Wil's mind. It was smart. He didn't know why he didn't think of that, but... would she want to? Was it too soon? He had no idea, though now he had about a thousand new ideas floating around his head. "I hadn't thought about that, actually," he admittedly mumbled after a moment of thinking.

What would living with Vee be like? A million times better than their current situation, probably, but who knew? Whenever they were together, there were always other people there. Vee's apartment was normally accompanied by Elena and Noah; the Lunch Club house always had at least two of the guys there, and even when they had that hotel room at VidCon, they still ended up sharing it with others. He never realized until now that this would be the first time they would be properly alone together. Unless Niki was still there, but Wil believed that to be unlikely.

Wilbur looked out his window. "Oh, it's that building right up there," he said quickly. "The brick one."

The driver nodded. "Got it, mate."

Though collected before, the closer they got to Wil's flat, the more anxious he became. Was it a good anxious? Like the anxiety you have when you're excited? He assumed so, letting out a breath as he wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans.

Everything will be okay, he thought to himself.

When he had finally parked, Wil thanked the driver and quickly got out of the car, holding his luggage above his head in an attempt to at least stay a little dry from the storm as he ran to his door. When he went to turn the knob, it was locked. No surprises there. He put his things down, now safe from the rain due to the complex, and grabbed the spare key from under the door, unlocking it...

i apologize greatly for the cliffhanger but i wanted to give you guys at least something LMAO
