Chapter 9: To Love is to be Unsatisfied

Author's note:

For those among you who have or are reading Cheating Men Must Die, which are your favorite and least liked arcs?

My favorite is the first arc, even though it was a relatively easy mission, it also has my favorite Su Luxia design. And that ending? Mwah. I remember being so darn impressed that I spent night until morning reading the rest of the comic. It was what got me hooked into the QT and face-slapping genre.

My second and third Su Luxia design favorites are those from the Vampire Arc and the Elegant Socialite Arc.

Levi was satisfied.

His mom hated him for being overweight and dumb, and his dad never really talked to him that much. But he had his own bedroom, which he could decorate with whatever he wanted. He always had the latest game consoles. His tablet was the most high-tech and expensive version and the envy of all digital artists.

He had no close friends aside from his fellow fans, but he had never even seen their faces, but at least didn't have to worry about whether he was going to starve or be homeless ever.

He was satisfied with his life, which was better than what most people had. He knew that to ask for more was to be greedy, so Levi told himself he was happy.

Levi didn't want to ask for more.

But he has found himself being unsatisfied.

In the past, the first thing he did was check for updates from his favorite fanfiction author or notifications about an upcoming game. Now, Leviathan woke up checking his newest group chat named "Ball Buddies ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)."

Every weekend, at four in the morning, it was the same set of greetings.

Maya: Good morning! /smiling sun.jpeg

MC: Rise and shine, dumpling.

Maya: Nii-san and I made sandwiches for lunch!

MC: Maya, can you come down and help me pack the water bottles?

Maya: Sure thing.

MC: @Leviathannnn, we'll be at the park in fifteen minutes.

Leviathan sighed.

A few weeks ago, after you got his contact information and invited him to this ridiculous group chat (You came up with the name and naturally, Maya supported it. Levi had no choice but to accept.). The two of you struck a deal: you'd help Levi get his grades up and so he wouldn't have to repeat again, in exchange, Levi had to be your "playmate."

Volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, dodgeball--all sorts of ball-related sports, hence the name "Ball Buddies." Although the deal was between you and Levi, Maya naturally came along.

Every weekday after school was academics and every weekend was physical training. By the time Levi came home, he only had enough energy to shower quickly before passing out on the soft, warm carpet of his room.

He should just quit this stupid deal, but ...

He quickly typed back a reply: @MC @Maya, my grandmother sent us fresh orangest last night. I hope you're not allergic to citrus.

He hasn't spoken to any of his fandom friends, he can't remember the last time he went online to play or lost himself drawing his favorite character. But lately, Levi has been laughing a lot, he got to play games that he was too shy to try in the past and ...

Ding.

MC: Ohoho, I love fruits. Bring a lot. /licking tongue.jpeg

... And lately, his fingers have been twitching to draw someone else.
