Chapter 12: Who is the Beauty that Eclipses the Moon?

Dinner at Leviathan's house was exceptionally terrible tonight.

First, he gets into a pseudo-fight with you (is that even a thing?), then it started raining cats and dogs on the way home, and the car broke down so he got stuck in the middle of the road for thirty minutes (because why not), and when he finally got home, his two least favorite people in the world were seated at the dinner table (apparently, God has a sense of humor).

"Levi, you've lost weight." Lamia laughed over her salad. "I never thought I'd see the day."

Leviathan pushed the meatball on his plate with a fork. "Mm-hm." What did you mean by pretending that his confession never happened? Were you mad at him? You didn't look like it, but why did he feel like the distance between you had quadrupled?

A slicing tone broke his train of thought, "It's rude to ignore your conversation partner."

Leviathan raised his eyes and saw Fenriz scrutinizing him from over his teacup.

"And I don't know if you're still undergoing that ridiculous diet of yours but either eat your food or don't." He put down the teacup. "It's impolite to play with your meal."

Leviathan put down his fork. "Sorry."

His cousin harrumphed and continued eating his salad.

Lamia spoke up, "Say, Levi, can you introduce me to MC?"

"What?"

"It shouldn't be too hard. A friend of mine from your school told me that you and MC eat lunch together with that stepsister of his."

"I told you, I can't just—"

"Nothing bad will come out of us getting to know each other. Even someone like..." She paused, and then grinned at him. "Well, even someone like you should know this, right?"

Translation: Even someone who is so stupid that he had to redo his senior year should know that two wealthy, powerful families will benefit greatly from two heirs marrying each other.

Fenriz agreed without looking up from his plate. "Surely, even you can't mess up introducing Lamia to a close friend, so what's there to be afraid of?"

Leviathan gritted his teeth. "...I'll see what I can do."

"Great!" Lamia clapped her hands. "Call him now."

"W-what?"

"I said, 'call him now," Lamia enunciated with that usual smile of hers, the kind of sweet smile that acquitted her when she destroyed Leviathan's toys when they were kids. It was the kind of smile that no one, especially Levi, could say no to.

Leviathan turned to Fenriz, hoping that this stuck-up guy would chastise his sister for encouraging phone calls at the dinner table, but his male cousin was exceptionally engrossed in eating today.

Left with no other choice, Levi brought out his phone and called.

You answered on the first ring, "Well, this is a surprise."

"H-hey..."

"What can I do for you?"

"Um, I-I was wondering if..." Levi glanced at Lamia, who was staring down at him. "...um..."

On the other line, you were currently lying on your bed, feet against the wall as Boba played with Maya on the floor.

"What is it, Levi?" You asked when he fell silent.
