Chapter 39

This chapter is now going to focus on Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Lotus Pier, the citizens of Yunmeng and Sect Leader Jiang.

The region of Yunmeng located in the Hubei area used to be a place full of rich harvest, fresh lotus flowers, many lakes, bustling full of people as children play their kites near the lakes, fishermen would sail their boats to cast their nets in order to catch fishes or other sort of sea creatures, vendors selling seed pods, water chestnuts and all kinds of pastries however Lotus Pier was regarded as a frightening and dangerous place especially if you are a rogue cultivator due to the high bad tempered Sect Leader Jiang Wanyin with his tendency to arrest and torture thos who practice the dark arts causing a lot of innocent civilians to suffer or be reported missing worrying their families, loved ones and friends.

Presently Yunmeng is now known as one of the cursed places among the different regions with huge harsh floods, hurricanes and tornadoes sweeping away a lot of people's houses, belongings, destroying or damaging boats and buildings it was like almost every single day there was at least heavy strong winds or minor earthquakes. Lotus Flowers, water chestnuts and other types of food no longer grow or harvest well as it appears to be rotten or that one out of five of the resources are fresh while the rest are not fresh/uneatable, Fishes are no longer taking the bait of fishermen or the fishermen are having hard time getting any catches. Aside from that it heavily rains hard almost every single day it was like the sun always disappears hiding among the big fluffy dark clothes not shedding a single light to the region. For 5 and a half years the sun had never shone in it's bright ray in Yunmeng.

Business is also not thriving well anymore merchants complain about how their shipping always get lost in who knows where, their suppliers and partners cutting ties with them or angrily demand for a refund due to not receiving the goods on the expected day or not receiving it at all. 

Many citizens of Yunmeng pack up their belongings with their family to leave for they cannot stand living in the conditions of the area saying that the place is cursed by the immortal deities who have been disgusted with the actions made by the cultivating sects. Many of the people have been visiting shrines especially of 风师青玄, (Fēng Shī Qīng Xuán - Lord Wind Master), and 雨师娘娘, (Yǔ Shī Niáng Niang - Lord Rain Master), they even paid tribute or plead towards the waters of 黑水沉舟, Hēi Shuǐ Chén Zhōu - Black Water Submerging Boats) by throwing coins, diamonds and any rich valuables they have to please the ghost king who sinks ships whenever or wherever he goes.

Yunmeng Jiang Sect was once a thriving sect as the present Sect Leader Jiang have rebuild it from scratch ever since the Sunshot Campaign, as many people had admired him for being successful for rebuilding by himself, and leading the first siege against the infamous Yiling Laozu as many people, merchants and companies would make partnerships or give them supplies while many families send their children to Lotus Pier hoping that they could be chosen and accepted as disciples since the common people have this belief or it was a norm that cultivators were highly respected among all people aside from nobles and those coming from the imperial court. Oh how things changed instantly when the truth has finally come to light, as people would say what goes around comes around. If you don't treat people right, things come back to bite you!

The Jiang Sect is on the verge of disbanding as no merchant or farmer would sell any of their crops or resources, people are no longer asking or requesting for their help or service in dealing with cases like attacks of fierce corpses, curses, yaos, bandits, resentful energy. The people have been avoiding the sect like it was a plague or untouchable disease. The spreading of false rumors and gossip that people talk behind their backs, the dirty looks they receive coming from different people of all ages, how people would try to avoid them like a plague or bad luck. It was like how they treated Wei Wuxian before in the past and now they face the consequences of their actions.
