Team bonding.

That morning after breakfast, the team was placed in their dorm room and told to talk.
They weren't given a game or anything like before, but were just left to their own devices.

"Just talk. Get to know each other," Robinson had told them before she left.
"Sooo," Jay started awkwardly, trying to start a conversation, "So, where did we all live before this?"

Kira shrugged, "Our sister always told us we were half Greek and half Japanese. Don't know how true it is tho."
"I lived in Ireland," Colleen chimed in cautiously.

"I lived in London, atleast that's the city I was told when I asked," Kai spoke up.
"Is that why you've got that accent?" Jay asked, completely oblivious.

"Yes," Kai said in a near hiss, eyes narrowing. Kamlyn caught on, and tried to defuse the situation.
"W-what about Aayan? Where are you from?"

Aayan sat up a bit straighter and cleared his throat, "I'm from India. It's nice there, I wish I could go back."
"Sounds cool," Kaze said rather off-handedly even tho he did mean it.

Kahsbi thought for a moment, before she smiled sheepishly, "Sorry guys, I don't exactly know where I'm from. I know it's really pretty with tons of flowers though."

After that, the entire room went back into an awkward silence. No one seemed to know what to say or do.
Once again, it was Jay who prompted the next conversation.

"Hey Kamlyn? What's with the eyepatch?"
Kamlyn and the other two immediately went stiff, eyes going wide as they scrambled to hold their brother closer.

Kaze glared at the boy, that dangerously calm tone and look from the day before returning.
The look served to cause Jay to panic, and he immediately went into apology overload.

"I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" He babbled, confused as to how his question could've triggered such a severe reaction.
After a moment, he gathered the courage to ask, "W-what happened...?"

Kaze glanced over to the other two, then back to Jay when he saw Kira was keeping Kamlyn distracted.
"He tore Kamlyn's eye out. Don't let him know I told you."

The atmosphere was heavier than a boulder, their chests tight and bodies tense.
"He...what?" Kashsbi's soft murmur came, her hands shaking as she burried them in her long white hair.

"No, no, how could he?" Aayan thought aloud, reaching around to hug himself.
"That's awful!" Kai yelled, his eyes wide with prominent fear.
Colleen looked confused, "But how!? How could a father be so cruel to his own son!?"

Kaze lifted his gaze to look the red head in the eye, his gaze blank and stone cold, "You'd be surprised. Not everyone gets that luxury."
After what felt like an eternity, Robinson came back into the room, and seemed confused at the lack of talk present in the room.

"What happened?" She asked, raising her clipboard in preparation to write whatever she needed to down.
Kahsbi bit her lip and got up, walking over to the woman with her wobbling legs.

She leaned up and whispered into Robinson's ear, and all the others watched as her eyes went from confused, to angry, to absolutely enraged.
"He did..what," she hissed venomously, as if to confirm what she'd heard, fists clenching.

Robinson somehow managed to keep her composure with a deep breath in and out.
She didn't let her eyes soften, but the sadness for the children was evident in her eyes.

They were taken to the same room again, and they all ate in silence. It was easier now that they'd gotten used to the unsavory taste of the food.
Robinson whispered into a tall mans ear, who's face went red, but he somehow kept his composer.

Back at the dorm, they were still silent. They dressed in their sleep uniform silently, and then curled up in their beds silently.
Once the lights out had been called, Kahsbi found herself unable to fall sleep.

Anger, sadness, guilt, and anything in between echoed in her skull and thrummed throughout her body.
Once the feeling that weighed heavy in her chest had become too much to bare, she got up and went to Kamlyn's bed.

She crawled into the bed gently, rousing the boys attention. Kahsbi trembled and leaned down to lay next to him.
She tenderly wrapped her arms around the boy, who seemed a bit confused, making a confused noise in the back of his throat.

"K-kahsbi?" He mumbled, timidly reaching to wrap his arms around the girl in return.
"What are you-?"
"You did this for me, let me help you too," Kahsbi said as if he didn't have a choice.

"Okay," Kamlyn agreed softly as he closed his eye and buried his face in her shoulder.
Kahsbi smiled softly and cuddles up next to him, and the two fell into asleep as they held each other tight.
