~Delilah~Walking hand in hand with my mate to the backyard once again felt like I was in a trance. The feeling of her fingers wrapped in mine her hand fitting perfectly with mine. Bliss that's all I felt. Although not wanting the 20 questions and all eyes on me I let go of her hand right before we walked outside, before anyone could see. "Ahh there you guys are! Come have a drink with us and hang out before dinner! Derek here was just telling us all about Delilah, and her war stories." Sapphire said as we walked up to the bonfire they had going. "Oh, don't listen to Derek he embellishes a lot to make his sister sound cooler than she is." That caused everyone to laugh and Derek to roll his eyes and say, "Oh she's just modest, truthfully if you want to hear the real story on any of her battles ask anyone but Delilah."
I just rolled my eyes while taking an empty seat on a log. "Hey Delilah want a glass of wine, or a water?" Seriously wine and water, do I look like a middle-aged mom? "A Whisky would be nice? I know you didn't offer but most don't usually." For some reason that question alone had the whole group silenced. "I'm sorry did I say something wrong? Water is fine forget I said anything." Another guy spoke up after that, "No it's just that we've never seen a female casually ask for a glass of whisky besides our Alpha, she's practically the only person who drinks it."
I could feel Willow's eyes on me, and I don't know if it was the looks that everyone was giving me, or the courage she seemed to give me knowing she was sitting beside me, but for some reason my brain thought it would be a good idea to respond with, "Well I guess it's a good thing we are mates then."
That ladies and gentlemen shut everyone up. Not a single sound was made from anyone, and all eyes were for sure on us now after that statement. I don't know if Willow could sense how nervous I was or if she was just confirming what I said to be true because a grasped my one of my hands in hers and squeezed reassuringly.
"I'm sorry, but did you just say that Alpha Willow is your mate, Delilah?" My brother asked, in a stunned tone. "Yes, brother I did, is there a problem?" With that my brother stood up with tears in his eyes and a smile on his face pulling both Willow and I into a hug, whispering "I'm happy for the both of you, Willow take care of my little sister, oh and good luck." She chuckled patted him on the back and sat back down with me. I on the other hand was SHOCKED! "I'm sorry but that's it? Don't get me wrong I'm glad that was easy, but why was it so easy? Why are you acting so calm like you aren't more surprised by this?" The man just started laughing! Like when did this become a laughing matter here?!
"Oh, Delilah you act like this should be a shock when I think everyone who knows you can say, honey you are the only one shocked here. We all knew this day was going to happen. Not saying I'm not happy your mate is Willow I am, but I was hoping it was going to be a female you could bring to our pack." Flabbergasted, that's how I felt right now.
"You knew to the point where you thought this out and you didn't think to, Oh I don't know. Mention it to me?!" He just rolled his eyes. "Ehh where is the fun in that?" I was about to respond when someone from Willow's pack handed me my drink. I just mouthed the words "Later" to my brother and dropped the conversation for now.
"Dinner is ready" a pack member from the kitchen came out to announce. Walking into the dining room it looked like the whole pack was here. Willow grabbed my hand leading me to the head of the table where two empty seats sat? Did she plan this?
As if she could read my mind, "Sapphire informed the kitchen staff that my mate would be joining us for dinner." She explained with a nervousness to her voice. I just smiled and took my seat, an unspoken acceptance.
"So Alpha Willow, since you and my sister are mates, I'm going to assume she will be staying here when we head back to our pack." I knew the question was coming, but for some reason I still wasn't prepared for it. Was I even ready to up and leave my pack, my home, my family, my whole life? Tonight?
"We can't leave our mate Delilah." "I know that Storm. It hurts just thinking about it, but this is a lot to take in, in under a day." "I know, but our mate will be there to help us through it all, remember you aren't the only one going through all these changes right now."
"If that's what Delilah wants then yes that will be the case, but I don't want to force her into anything."
