Third Person P.O.V

Vera watched Yelena and Nat push up to a bend back on the playground dirt laughing and smiling as she sat 5 feet away and watched sadly. She looked down and placed with thick little sticks pretending it was a person, and that person was her. She flipped it around in the air imagining she was doing backflip upon backflip then bouncing back and doing front flips, side ariels anything she could possibly imagine and sticking the landing

She wished she and her sisters had more in common so Vera could tag along too, and they would all have a blast. She looked back to the ground lying on her back and closed her eye. She imagined she had just gotten first, and she looked into the crowd seeing her parents cheering for their little girl and her sisters screaming at the top of their lungs with huge smiles

Vera had never been as clean and pristine as her sisters, and therefore not able to do any bend backs or leg mounts anything that required flexibility, core strength or balancing on the tips of her toes. She also would sometimes watch them do ballet moves both being graceful and angelic but when she tried it alone in her room during many late nights and constantly tumbled to the ground. While she also stared in the mirror she had no ounce of artistry or technique a ballerina had

So when one night the tv was on a random show it was showing Gymnasts she was immediately intrigued and sat as close to the screen as she could. watching it until the end, she admired the way they moved not with such elegance as a ballerina but with strength and force they were tough and determined. She wanted to do everything those girls were doing on screen she didn't care how hard she had to work just to get as good as them

Her mum told her it was time for bed but Vera didn't listen she wanted to stay until the tv broke and went to a static screen. I got to the point where her dad came in and carried her to bed she kicked and screamed begging to go back and watch the rest. They ended up having to lock her room so she wouldn't come out. But she didn't sleep one bit all night she stared at her ceiling re-watching the routines in her head even creating some of her own when it was the morning she didn't come out for breakfast or dinner still imagining herself doing all those crazy tricks

One day she found a spot in the park secluded enough for her to try the simple tricks, she didn't know if she was good at it or just horrendous but she didn't care one bit. When she was daring enough she would go to the playground and use the long floating beam, making her own routines with turns, jumps, posh walking and other tricks that didn't require flexibility

As she practised she improved tremendously perfecting her self-made dances and wanted to challenge herself which is why she standing outside her older sister's room. Her two sisters were there playing with Yelena's dolls

"Natasha?" Vera asked quietly the Russian accent laced through her voice, the two siblings looked over at her

"What?"

"Could you help me do my bend-back?"

"I thought you couldn't do it" She rolled her eyes as Yelena silently looked between her older sisters

"Girls Dinner!" She heard her mum yell from the living room, but she ignored it as she was thinking of what it would be like after she got her bend-back and backflip and even more

Her mother eventually pulled her out of her sister's doorway and sat her down at the table going outside to get her sisters. She heard heavy footsteps and looked to see her father walking to his chair and sitting with a large sigh

He reached over and started to plate up food for himself as Vera watched him quietly, she wanted to ask him if she could do gymnastics but didn't want to end up angering her father because something she kept to herself is that she was a little scared of him at times

"Oh Vera, didn't know you were there, scared me" He chuckled before he started to scoff down his food like a pig, she wanted to ask her mum but she knew that she would shut it down completely without any reasoning

She was miserable and all she wanted to do was gymnastics
