Amora's pov

Dante finishes filling up the tank, he walks around to the back of the truck and stands before all of us.

"Now that we have gas, where are we gonna go? I mean we can't just keep driving around aimlessly." he pulls out the map from his pocket

"I think we should keep driving until we reach Georgia and then we can find an empty house somewhere rural, that doesn't have a lot of people." Allister points to a spot on Dantes map

"Georgia is about 2 hours from here, is that fine with everyone?" Allister looks around at all of us

we all nod in unison

It's not like we have anywhere better to go, and yes, I mean I'm sure everyone is ready to go out on there own and find their families, but that's just not realistic after everything we have seen.

"Alright then," Dante says and slams the trunk shut and walking back to the driver's side, he opens the door and looks at jenny as she sits in his spot.

"scooch Jen, I'm driving." he taps her shoulder
She rolls her eyes
"Why thank you so much, Jen, for driving while I was asleep", Of course, it was no problem Dante." she mocks him.

she scooches over back to the passenger seat before he puts the car in drive and proceeds to our destination

I watch as Maria and Emi sit together chatting amongst themselves, they whisper out laughter.

They have been getting closer, the two of them.

I think she misses her mom, Maria is somewhat like her mother in the way she talks and how she carries herself, kind and gentle, A little reserved.
I understand why Emi is attaching herself to maria.

Emi turns around so that Maria can braid back her long hair.

I feel bad, she shouldn't have to go through this.

She isn't like me. Her mother loves her and always wants to be with her, And now that she doesn't know if her mom is alive or dead its weighing on her. She doesn't know what it's like to live without her mother's love... and it's taking a toll on her

I turn my face from her and to the body that sits next to me.

Allister's large body sits pressed into my side, I pull my knees into my chest.

My eyelids feel heavy but I don't allow myself to sleep.

"You're tired." I look up to see him staring at me

"... I know." my eyes flutter trying to stay open

"Go to sleep. I'll be right here." He moves my hair out of my face.

I nod and shut my eyes, but within 5 seconds of my eyes being shut, I can feel the blood splashing on my face, and the man's tight grip on my ankle. My eyes jolt open and I shake my head.

"No. -um let's do something else I don't want to sleep right now" I scratch the back of my neck

I watch as his eyes soften.

"Alright fine, let's get to know each other better. Where are you from?" he changes the subject

"I was born and raised in Miami, and now I go to school at UCF... well I did." I answer

"My turn, how old are you?"  I ask, changing the subject, he doesn't look too much older than me, maybe 29?

"I'm 28, How about you?" he answers

"I'm 21. Why did you join the army?" I poke at his uniform pants

"I was raised by my grandparents and once I turned 18, I knew that I couldn't stay with them forever, and I didn't really have a plan so I joined them, then I met Dante, and I was climbing up the ranks so easily that I just stayed." He says looking off into the distance remembering his past
