"Did he tell you?" Ben asked, chomping at the bit like a horse I sent it with the real alfalfa.
I Shrugged an apology and shook my head solemnly hoping it seemed sincere. "No, sorry. I asked him but he refused to say." I had decided to lie. I wasn't going to humiliate Copter's family like this. He obviously wasn't thinking in his right mind when I told me Jeremy Sanders was his father. I was not going to throw his entire family under the bus just for a headline-even his mother, who would likely be served it more than anyone else.
"What an ass," Sandra chimed in. "So he was just screwing with you again, huh?"
"Yes, I guess so. I told you he was a jerk," I said, this time sin feeling off each syllable. He was a jerk. I hated him so much that every cell in my body was in chronic pain. Someone once told me that the people you think you hate are really the ones you love so much; your heart often can't tell the difference sometimes when it's so full of emotions.
