HOURS PASSED SINCE THE INCIDENT, and Clementine stayed by my side the whole time as I calmed myself down, trying to push the thoughts out of my head. It took some time, but I did it, being able to get up from the floor.
Looking around the yard, some of the group were gathered around the fire, Sarita crying while being comforted by Rebecca. I frowned slightly, she did love my dad. I don’t know how to feel about that, but I guess it was sweet. A few meters over, Carlos was attending to my father who was lying on Rebecca’s cot, a bandage covering his bloody face. Further away, Mike and Luke were talking to Bonnie through the gate, before she nodded and left, leaving the two men to come and join the group again. As I walked over, Rebecca looked up from Sarita.
Rebecca: Hey, honey. You okay?
I nodded silently and she rubbed my arm comfortingly, then she turned to the two men.
Rebecca: What’d she say?
Mike: She said she can get us out of the pen if we can get the PA system going. Second she hears it, she’ll run over and spring us.
