Chapter 3: The Boy

I've finally reached the town and the sun was barely beginning to set

Just in time and the town was beautiful when the sunset gave a radiant glow to all the buildings and houses

I was only back in the middle of town where David was healed, but I could still hear the festive music coming from the Madrigal's

I looked up and took notice of the casita on the hill. Just like the town, it was breathtaking at sunset.

I began to walk up the hill before getting in line to go inside the house.

"Ay, glad to see you again" said Julieta, walking past me with a basket full of ingredients.

"Nice to see you too" I replied

"Where's you're little brother" she questioned

"Ah, he's tired so he stayed home" I chuckled nervously

"That's good, getting a lot of rest is just as good as the food I can heal you with" she replied

"Well I ought to be off" she said, leaving me as she chatted with others in the line

The line sure was long

But there seemed to be a lot of people greeting at the front for one line

I spotted at least 3 people. A man, an old lady and a child.

And now a young boy. Maybe around my age.

Wait

The boy turned into the same man, same old lady and same child I saw earlier

I didn't just see...did the boy just...shapeshift?

Woah that's so cool, he must be a Madrigal, his gift must be shapeshifting I thought

"Hey move on up!" someone behind shouted at me

"Ah yes, sorry" I said

I must've been thinking a while because there was only one person in front of me and they just walked inside.

The door was closed and I didn't see that boy anywhere.

I felt a tap on my shoulder

I turned around;

"BOO"

"AH" I screamed as I fell back, noticing the one who scared me was...me

They, or myself or he. Whatever, changed back into the boy that was greeting everyone earlier

He held his hand out for me to take

"Hey sorry about that, didn't mean to startle you so bad" he said, nervously laughing while rubbing his head with his other hand

All I could do in that moment was stare him in the eyes.

His hair was beautiful, I loved his curls and his eyes were stunning too.

"Ay don't leave me hanging like this" he said with his hand still up as he nudged it closer

"Ah right" I said, snapping out of my own thoughts as I began to blush

Wow, he's really cute up close like this I thought as I grabbed his hand and he helped pull me up

"Sorry about all that" the boy said

"I just like making people laugh, help people have a good time. You know?"

"Yeah" I replied, rubbing my arm

I began to walk in before the boy pulled me back

"Wait a minute, what's you're name?" he asked

"I never seen you ever, and trust me, I know everyone in this town because I've been everyone in this town" he said, staring at me with a mischievous grin and one eyebrow raised

This is hard to answer when he's looking at me like that.

"I- I'm y/n. I don't live here actually, haha. I live on my abuelo's farm out in the forest" I said

"Cool" the boy replied

"I'm Camilo, Camilo Madrigal to be exact. Probably the coolest of all the Madrigals" Camilo said jokingly

We both chuckled

"Well, it was cool meeting you, I better head in haha" I said, ready to walk inside

"Wait! Hey do- would you want to wait here? With uh- I mean, stand here. Maybe help me out with the rest of the line?" Camilo said, stumbling a bit on his words before blushing hard

"There's not a lot of people left." he whispered

I stood there looking at his hopeful eyes before he shapeshifted into me and pleaded more

How could I say no, haha

"Sure, I would like that" I said

Camilo gave me a high five and turned back into himself

"I just want to talk with you more, I enjoy meeting new people" Camilo said with a smile, while greeting those still in line

We greeted the rest of the line together

It really was a lot of fun meeting new people, all coming together to celebrate Antonio's ceremony.

The line had finished

"That was more fun than I expected" I told Camilo

"Haha, it really was, especially with someone else" he replied

I blushed a little

"Anywho, let's head inside! It's gonna be an awesome night" Camilo exclaimed

"And you need to meet the rest of my family! As Mirabel always says, we're a constellation"

I chuckled at his remark as we both headed inside
