"Put it back." Derek sighed. I winced and looked at him, he was standing next to me looking grumpy.
I opened my mouth to defend myself but stopped. I put the items I had in my jacket pocket back with a huff. "The stuff in your socks too." He said.
I muttered to myself as I grabbed the jewelry that I had placed in my sock. "Pants pockets too."
After putting everything back, Derek checked me to make sure I didn't keep anything.
It's not like I was going to anyways. I'd just feel extremely guilty and bring it back. "What?"
Derek glanced at me as he struggled to hold the clothes I had piled in his arms.
"You smelled like guilt." He said.
I rolled my eyes and continued looking at shirts.
We stayed quite for a few minutes with me earning glares from Derek everytime I added something to the pile.
Eventually it got late and it was time for us to leave.
As we were leaving, the metal detectors went off.
Derek glared at me as I smiled sheepishly. "Oops?"
"Put it back." He said. I ignored him and grabbed his hand and our bags as we started running out of the mall. "Hey! Get back here and pay for that!"
"Aunt Z!" Derek growled. I quickly put the bags in the backseat when we finally got outside.
"Shut up and drive." I said, grabbing all the things I stuffed in my hijab.
"I knew you wouldn't check there." I said when Derek glared at me.
"We're probably not allowed in the mall anymore."
I scoffed. "No shit."
"This is why I don't go places." He muttered.
