Parting Words

Naoto rubs his face with his hands and pushes back his hair. "Anything else?" He says through his sigh.

"No, that covers it all," Takemichi responds, completely drained. He throws himself backward on the bed and covers his eyes with the crook of his elbow. "I'm beat..." He says through a yawn.

You sit back on your hands and bend your head so you're looking up and groan with your eyes closed. "Me too."

It had been a good couple of hours of you and Takemichi explaining everything that went down as soon as you traveled back into the past, to the moment you both came back to the present. Naoto sat quietly, listening to every detail closely, his face sometimes changing from its neutral state to shock when you got to some parts like the fistfight in the large lot and your new fake identity as a boy, and you even decided to tell him that Hinata slapped the Commander of Toman in the face.

"It's so weird that I suddenly have memories of this too," Rin comments quietly while holding her chin with her index finger and thumb. "It kinda creeps me out."

"You two sure know how to cause a lot of trouble in just a couple of days," Naoto says. "It's a miracle you managed to pull this off with all those lies piling on each other."

"Especially the one where you said your name was Shinichiro," Rin says in disbelief. "Was Mikey's brother's name the only option or could you have been more obvious?"

"W-Well, everything worked out in the end," Takemichi says, his ears turning red from embarrassment. "And having Rin in the past know about everything could benefit us as well."

"It is, but that was a very risky move. What would you have done if Rin told your parents?"

He's right. That definitely could've ended up badly in many ways...

"I guess that definitely rules out us telling Hinata like we told Naoto and Rin," you say to Takemichi.

Naoto stands up and puts his hands on his hips. "Putting that aside, congratulations on completing your first mission, but now the real challenge begins."

You suppress a groan. As if all of that wasn't challenging enough... but deep down I know he's once again right.

"There's something we've now learned due to your second time leap."

You sit up from the bed, to show you were listening. Naoto grabs a marker and draws a timeline on one of his many whiteboards and he writes down the date you time traveled and the current date.

"This strange ability to time travel allows you two to return to 12 years into the past. For example, if you two were to go back into the past, you'd go back to today 12 years ago, and if you come back here after spending a week there, a week would've also passed here."

"I see. That makes sense," you whisper to yourself.

That's exactly how it's been both of the times Takemichi and I returned to the past. Wow. Naoto is really amazing. Even if he's not the one time-traveling, he's working hard on his end here as well...

"What about us in the present? What have we been doing this entire time?" Takemichi asks.

"As for that," Rin speaks up, taking charge of this part of the conversation, "While you two were off fighting delinquents and pulling off your shenanigans in the past, your bodies here were in suspended animation."
