"Shinichiro... you reckless bastard. Why'd you do it? Why'd you risk your life...? You're the biggest idiot I've ever come across... I'm grateful to you. You have my sincerest respect and gratitude. I owe you more than you know... So wake up already, dumbass. I'd like to tell you in person..."

Beep...
Beep...
Beep...
Beep...

You wake to the sound of a heart monitor. You slowly open your eyelids which had felt like they had been super glued shut. After struggling for what felt like forever, you manage to keep them open. Your blurry eyes dart around the room. It was dark, the only thing brightening the room was a dim lamp at your bedside. The blinds to your left had been drawn shut.

You faintly groan, and that's when you feel an uncomfortable dryness in your throat. You were thirsty. Really thirsty. You notice a pitcher of water and a cup sitting on the table hovering right above your bed. You go to reach for it, but your body refuses to listen to you. You move your fingers and attempt to lift your arm, but even the slightest movement aches since everything was sore and hurt. You grunt and attempt to sit up in bed. You breathe heavily as your body finally catches up to your awareness.

My body feels... destroyed. I'm too weak.

You continue struggling, but close your eyes in defeat, and inevitably give up on any attempts to move. You sigh and sit back on the bed and look around again now that your eyes had now better adjusted. It was quiet and the room felt cold. You were alone in your room and it felt... lonely.

You notice a few dangling strings beside you, and your eyes travel up to see balloons attached to the other end of them. You look to the right of your bedside and see a bouquet of assorted flowers, a stuffed animal, and a get-well-soon card. You extend your neck further to get a better look when you suddenly feel a sharp stinging pain in your left shoulder and you scrunch your eyes shut. You breathe through the pain and once the worst of it passed, you open your eyes to stare at the ceiling.

Well, well, well... if it isn't the consequences of my actions. Last night was... extremely chaotic. I was stabbed. Takemichi was stabbed. Draken was stabbed and almost died. I know my actions were beyond reckless and careless. I was a fool to think I could do everything on my own, and now here I am, sitting in a hospital bed to pay that price... but... we succeeded. Our mission was a success.

Draken is alive.

A slight knock at your door pulls you from your thoughts and you look in its direction. The doorknob twists and you quickly shut your eyes again, pretending to be asleep. There was no particular reason why you did it. Perhaps it was a habit from when your parents or Rin would check up on you to make sure you were asleep, rather than doing something you weren't supposed to be doing.

The door opens, letting some light into the room, and then you hear the door shut before there's shuffling. You hear what sounds like a rolling chair, and it stops close to your left side. The person sits down and you feel their presence.

"Hey, I'm back," the voice says gently and you instantly recognize who it was. It's quiet for a while, and you try your absolute hardest not to smile, giving away that you were actually awake. You peek through one of your eyes and see him staring down at his hands. "Geez... how long are you going to sleep for? I'm restless over here you know..."

"Then get some sleep, dumbass," you croak in a dry voice. A head of golden blonde hair shoots up and a pair of wide baby blue eyes met your smile. "Hi, Takemichi."
