Mae had always hated the rain.

she didn't know whether it was the gray, darkness that clouded the whole day, or if it was general slowness that seemed to plague the entire city when it would start to pour. but she despised the rain.

she hated having to turn on the lights in the apartment because there wasn't any sun, hated the cold that would blow in with the rain, hated how her mood would immediately plummet as soon as she heard the little taps on the roof.

the only thing she did like was the excuse it gave her to stay in. it made her force herself to get some stuff done around the apartment, even though she had no motivation to do anything.
....
Mae could hear little cracks of thunder off in the distance, the rain had slowed to a drizzle and it finally allowed her to open up one of the windows. she loves the sounds of the city. she was lucky enough to have a place that wasn't as insane as some of the others in New York. sure there were still honking horns and the general bustle of the city, but she didn't get as many screaming people or sirens running through the streets.

she appreciated the noise though, it filled the silence.

it was Thursday which happened to be her favorite day of the week. she doesn't really know why she likes it so much, just does.

Mae was an actress. she had been acting since she was a child. she hated sports, hated any sort of club her school had to offer, and her mom insisted she do some extra curricular activity like her brother did. she doesn't know how her mom was introduced to theater but she signed Mae up and she hasn't stopped since.

she eventually moved from plays and musicals to commercials, cameos in tv shows, extras on set, anything she could find.

she fell in love with the whole process, start to finish. she went to every audition she could find and accepted every role that was offered to her.

she worked her way up, and after almost 9 years of experience she became one of the most known actresses.

she didnt feel any different than when no one knew her name. she felt like the same person, she knew she wasn't though.

she never adored the glitz and glam that hollywood had to offer. she was in love with her job, was good at her job. she was a good actress, could pretend she was a completely different person in front of a camera. but she didn't know if people loved her.

she didn't even know if she loved her.
....
one of Maes  projects was something of a dream role. She was casted as Amy in Little women.

(a.n/ sorry for all the Florence stans trust me, it hurt doing this)

Mae had loved the original movie since she was young, had especially loved amy's character, so getting to recreate her was an absolute dream.

Mae only got to meet half the cast before filming started. by the time the first day rolled around she was quite familiar with Saoirse's hilarious jokes and Emma's cute laugh. She had even gotten to know Eliza a bit before they departed for Massachusetts.

the only person she hadn't met was timothee.

she felt like she knew everything about him from how often the other girls would talk about him. Mae was casted very last minute, so the rest of the crew had some time to get to see each other before Mae was added.

Saoirse, who had worked with timmy before was certain they would like each other, even hinted at them getting together, which mae would roll her eyes at every time she brought it up.

the first time they met was the week before filming was set to start. they each got there own apartment in the same building and as she was unpacking, there was a knock at her door.
