Finn pov

The day finally came for Lydia's birthday. My little girl was 6 years old today. I woke up to her sitting on my chest poking my face

"Wake up" she whispered. When she saw I was awake she smiled triumphantly

"What's wrong love?" I asked her

"You gotta get up today daddy. Noowww" she whined imaptiently

"Why what's today?" I teased

"It's my birthday"

"Nooo. Your birthday isn't for another year" i said making her roll her eyes

"Wow. 6 years old and already acting like you're 16 ay" I said tickling her. She squealed and escaped to run downstairs. I got followed her down and sat in the dining room. I had ordered the chefs to make her a breakfast ready for when she wakes up and they had done an amazing job. I watched as her face brightened.

There were pancakes, strawberrys, waffles, croissants, jam on toast, chess crackers, bacon, egg, sausage and beans. It was the breakfast fit for a princess. I tucked Lydia in her chair

"For the birthday girl" the maid said as she walked in with milkshakes

"Yay" Lydia said with joy. As she ate, I went to go get her present. I came back with a box

"Now this isn't the main present. You get that later. But for now, happy birthday lydia" I said giving her the gift. She smiled widely and opened the present. It was a new dress with a matching bow and a peaky cap but obviously without the blade. She has started stealing my hat and wearing it which although looks adorable, isn't the safest thing for a 5 now 6 year old

"Thanks daddy I love it. Can I wear it for the picnic?" She asked

"Course you can love" I told her kissing her head. We finished breakfast so I carried her upstairs and helped her get dressed in her new dress. I put the cap on her head and looked at her

"Perfect" I said high fiveing her

"Not quite" she said. I was confused at first until she went to my dress and got my own peaky cap. She walked over and out it on my head

"Now it's perfect" she exclaimed smiling. I grabbed her hand and we walked down stairs ready for the picnic.

The picnic was fun, chaotic but fun. I watched as Lydia ran around with her cousins like a real child. She had changed so much. The person I met months ago was an adult in a child's body. Put work before play time and follows societies rules. Now, Lydia is care free and so much happier.

We called the kids over for food and I'd never seen them run so fast. Like a pack of wild animals

"Hungry?" I asked John's son who had out 3 pies in his mouth just to prove to his brother that he could. He replied with a very muffle sentence which made us all laugh

"Yout not hungry?" I asked Lydia who wasn't even looking at what food she wanted

"I hoped she wouldn't come" she muttered. I followed her line of vision and realised who she meant. Rosa was stood behind a tree just watching us. When she saw us looking, she came out from behind the tree and started walking over

"Hello Lydia Rose. Happy birthday my darling" she said kneeling down for a hug. Lydia didn't respond and just sat staring at the woman

"I've got you a present" she said pulling a wrapped gift from her bag

"Leave. And take the present with you" Tommy ordered but Lydia interrupted

"Leave but feel free to leave the present" we all tried not to laugh at her somehow turning this unfortunate event into something funny

"Im sorry Lydia Rose. But one day you will regret not coming back to me. When you are an old spinster, no rich man to marry and no children to pass on the wisdom of womanhood" Rosa said walking too close for comfort

"I don't wanna get married" she said making Rosa gasp

"Why in heavens not?"

"Because I have my family already. Right here. And daddy can protect me just as much If not more than any other man. So I'd like you to leave" Lydia said standing up. Lyd didn't look upset or frightened, instead she seemed unbtohered by her mothers sudden appearance

"Very well" Rosa said walking off. Lydia sat on my knee and picked at the grass

"You said she would be shot" she said not looking at any of us

"I'll found out what went wrong soon love. Let's not let her ruin your birthday. Tuck in" Tommy said. Lydia smiled and began eating the picnic food

We went home after that and the kids ran around like headless chickens with nigel whilst we sat down and drank. I decided now was a good time for Lydia's main gift

"Lyd baby. Come here a minute" I yelled hoping she would hear. In seconds she was by my side panting and giggling and Nigel followed

"Yes daddy" she said laughing. I picked her up on my hip and walked outside onto the drive. Everyone followed us and stopped in their tracks when they saw her present. There stood a beautiful white horse with a silky main

"Is that...?" She began

"I made a few phone calls and with the help of uncle Tommy, we found out about a horse that belonged to your grandparents. Apparently your favourite but he couldn't come to Birmingham. Well, here he is. Quick silver" i told her putting her down

"Oh my god oh my god oh my god" she squealed jumping up and down. She ran over to the horse and told it something in German. The horse lay down and Lydia climbed on. She yelled another German order and the horse carefully stood up as she held onto the reins

"Fucking hell. You've got that trained ain't ya" Arthur said earning him a clip round the ear from ada

"He was a war horse for Germany. They trained him but my grandparents found him in France" she explained

"He's gorgeous" aunt pol said. She was smiling so wide on her horse and i was so happy aswell. Watching her actually learn that it's good to be happy and not selfish like her mother taught her makes me feel like maybe I'm gonna be alright. We have done alright so far and we are both new at the whole father daughter thing. So whatever happens, we're in this together. We have helped eachother and will carry on doing so
