Finn pov

Me and Nessa became official 4 months ago. It has been amazing. We use the kids as an excuse to see eachother every day and Lydia has started going back to school. Her and Dan act like brother and sister and I hear at school he is very overprotective. John said that's why him and Jack get on so well. They both get angry when anyone hurts Lydia in any way, shape or form.

It's the first week of the summer holidays so the kids are off school. We are walking the dogs, Nigel and Dan's dog Lola through the fields. The dogs are infront off the lead playing with the kids as we daudled arm in arm. Nessas head rested on my shoulder as we watched the joyful scene infront of us

"How about you stay at mine tonight and the kids can stay at yours. We can have the house to our selves" she proposed kissing my cheek

"Fucking hell. You're amazing do you know that?" I complimented kissing her patiently and she smiled into the kiss

"Just gotta sought out a babysitter" I said. I wasn't too bothered. If we couldn't find a family member free then the maids are good at looking after them. Alone i wouldn't allow it but when there is two of them I don't see a problem with it. Safer the two of them and they can entertain themselves. Maids aren't great at that.

Just as we were walking in the sun, an ironic sound of thunder echoed through the sky. I was yet to experience a storm with Dan but I knew full well Lydia was petrified of them. I watched as the kids stopped playing and listened for more thunder

"Crap" I muttered as Lydia and Dan ran towards us. I lifted both my daughter and Dan onto a hip each

"You don't like thunder either?" I asked Dan

"Nessa said its like a monster in the sky" he said wide eyed. I looked at the woman who was still latched onto my arm. She too looked a little scared

"I don't like thunder alright?" She said in defence

"Let's go home" I said leading my family home, the dogs walking by my side. My family. Now that sounds weird and yet somehow right on my tongue. We walked home with the kids and Nessa jumping every now and then to the sound of thunder. Just as we closed the door, it began pouring down with rain. Lightning struck and the power in the house went out suddenly. It was daylight outside so we could still see but not well considering it was a big house so the windows didn't give enough light to fill a room.

I listened as Lydia slowly began to sob, growing louder and louder.

"Hey its OK baby" I said to her going to sit next to her on the sofa. I pulled her onto my knee and Nessa did the same with Dan

"I don't like it" Dan whispered close to tears

"It's alright mate. It'll be over soon. And we're inside, can't hurt us" I told him

"It's dark" Nessas voice wobbled as she cuddled close to my side

"Don't gotta be afraid of the dark. It can't hurt ya" I said

"I'm not afraid of the dark. I'm afraid of what's hiding in the dark" she said aggressively making me chuckle. It was 4pm and wouldn't be dark for a few more hours

"How about we play a game until the storm stops?" I suggested hoping it would distract them. They all nodded so i went and got cards. We set up on the kitchen table and I shuffled the cards. For hours we played different card games, all of us winning atleast 2 games. However, Lydia and Dan were still whimpering when thunder would shake the house or lighting brightened up the room. We comforted them best we could although Nessa was just as scared. He hands shook every time so I held onto them comfortingly.

Once the cock reached 9 o'clock, I decided it would be best to go to bed. If they were asleep then it wouldn't scare them as much. I lifted Dan up as Nessa carried Lydia and we walked upstairs. Nessa shares my bed but Dan had a bed in Lydia's room. We split the room since it is very big and half is his half is hers. Although they are good at sharing and we often find them in the same bed.

Tonight, the second we reached the top step, Dan asked

"Can we sleep with you?" I bt my lip trying not to yell in annoyance. Me an Nessa had sex after 2 months of dating. And with the kids it wasn't easy. So tonight was suppose to be our night but this was more important. I hid my annoyance and smiled at him

"Course buddy" i said taking him into mine and Nessas room. We lay on the bed. The kids in the middle and my arm was holding onto all my family. I watched as they slowly fell asleep but at half 2, i woke up to a quiet crying. I sat up and saw Nessa crying on the edge of the bed. I held my arms open and she walked around and lay on my chest, her arms around me and her head in the crook of my neck

"It's alright my love. You're safe" I told her kissing her forehead

"My parents argued alot when I was little. Before Dan was born, I would sit and listen to glass being thrown and them yelling. Storms just remind me of all the times I had to sit in my room facing them alone with no adults. I'm sorry for rambling" she said. I hugged her tighter

"I'm glad you told me. But now you have me and I'll always protect you" I said kissing her forehead

"I know. I love you so much finn"

"I love you too Nessa"
