Clay sat quietly.
The wind was soft against his gentle features,
The trees around him swayed.
The world turned.
But none of it mattered. His legs were pulled to his chest as he sat next to his lover's grave
50 years of love
Gone. As though they had never happened. He knew it would have to happen eventually, after all he was a goddamn monster, while his gentle, ever so kind George who seemed so strong and brave to him was just...human.
He hated that word, he hated how weak it sounded. Such a dumb, feeble, measly word to describe someone so beautiful, loving, kind and most of all, strong. Not a day went by where George had let himself be pushed over by others, always standing up to those in need even when situations got dire. Clay was able to control his appearance to age gracefully along with George but it made no actual difference.
He was a monster.
Cursed with immortality, cursed with seeing everyone he loved die before him, cursed with losing his one and only light.
Rage filled his heart as he stared at the simple gravestone lying before him. He had to get him back.
One day...
Someday.
Someday his beloved would be his again.
In another life.
In another time.
