"Hey, Mione." Cedric greeted as he, Mark and Derek  sat beside her, she was reading a book by the lake. She looked up and smiled at him, her eyes scanned his friends before she looked away quickly while blushing profusely and started gathering her books,

"Erm.. I- I gotta go. Harry needs help with the erm... next class." Cedric cocked his head,

"Hermione, today is a Saturday." she looked at him and gulped before smiling a forced smile, "Just stay here for a while." he urged her and she sighed. He didn't understand why she wanted to leave. It was as if she was desperate.

"O-okay." she sat back down and set her books down, her body still stiff, avoiding eye contact with anyone. Cedric glanced at his best mates and saw Derek was playing with the grass and Mark looked exactly like Hermione. Stiff. Avoiding eye contact.

There was an awkward silence surrounding the four students as they all stared at the giant squid, splashing around the waters as though it wanted some attention. The distinct laughter of other students from the other side of the lake was playful and cheery compared to the silence from their side.

Hermione was walking down the empty corridor, not in the mood to eat supper. Too many things were running through her mind. It was all too frustrating. She and Harry split two weeks ago because of... a reason.

Hermione felt someone grab her arm and she let out a gasp,

"Relax. It's me." Hermione relaxed and turned around,

"What?" she hissed, snatching her arm away. He lent against the wall and stared at Hermione so intensely that she couldn't resist looking away,

"I- You know it was a mistake, right?" she stated, staring at her fingers. She heard him moving and looked up, he was standing right in front of her and he put a hand on her cheek

"I don't want it to be." she felt his warm breath against her cold skin and shivered ever so slightly,

"We can't..." she said almost breathlessly as he leant in, their lips were centimeters apart when Hermione backed away,

"What are we doing?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears. She didn't like how she was feeling.

"It's Krum, isn't it?" She loved the man who was in front of her, even if she's only known him for a number of weeks. It just felt so right...

She never knew she'd be one of those girl who believed in love at first sight but that was what she felt when she first saw him. It was all too... confusing! She didn't bother to answer, it wasn't true but Hermione doubted he'd believe it. She just spun on her heels and ran away.
