"Bye, Daphne." Monica Miller, a 4th year Slytherin called to her best friend, Daphne Greengrass.

"Bye Monica!" she said with a smile, Monica turned around and walked down the noisy and crowded corridor . She was bored out of her mind and she finished all her homework last night and her friends were all doing their homework. She reached an empty corridor started humming a random tune when she bumped into a wall,

"Ow!" the wall groaned at the same time as her, she looked up and saw that the wall was a person, Harry Potter. "Sorry." she muttered,

"It's okay. It was my fault. You're Monica Miller, right?" he said/asked with a smile while he rubbed his neck, making his sleeve fall to his shoulder. She cocked her head as she noticed there was this large bruise and a large scratch on his arm,

"What's that?" she gasped, he looked at it and quickly put his arm down, looking flustered.

"N-nothing. Bye, g-gotta go." he stuttered before walking away briskly and taking a sharp turn to the left, glancing back at her one more time. Monica was shocked. What was that?

**

"Uh. hey Potter." she greeted the young Gryffindor who was staring blankly at the Black Lake. He looked at her and his eyes widened, it was obvious that she was the last person he wanted to see at the moment.

"Miller." he greeted stiffly, she felt put-out at that. She wanted to be friends with him,

"What are you doing?" she asked conversationally as she sat beside him, he glanced at her for a second before shrugging,

"Nothing." she noticed he looked depressed and that was when she noticed the Weasley kid and Granger wasn't with him. Which was strange,

"Where are Weasley and Granger?" she asked and he visibly stiffened before scowling,

"I don't know." he said, she felt confused by his actions. Weren't the three of them best friends? Everyone even dubbed them 'The Golden Trio' it seems weird to see one without the other.

"Okay." she answered, not quite knowing what to say anymore. The two lapsed into an awkward silence in which Harry was staring at the lake and Monica was staring at her hands that were forming an awkward turtle. The bell chimed signalling supper time and the two stood up without saying anything and walked side-by-side to the Great Hall.

"See you later then." Monica mumbled to Harry who nodded and they both headed off to their respective tables.

"MONICA!" Daphne cried, "I've been looking for you for hours! Where were you?" she inquired staring at her best friend who shrugged,

"I was just by the Black Lake." she answered, Daphne nodded and started conversing with her sister, Astoria, who was two years below them. Monica was quiet the entire evening, she didn't even eat dinner. Which was shocking to everyone because she usually ate like a pig (A.N. SORRY MONICA! I just don't know how you eat and I figured it'd be cooler to have her eat like a pig.)

"Okay." Pansy started, staring at Monica, "What in Salazar's name is up with you?" she asked in her annoyingy high-pitched voice,

"Nothing." she snapped back, she wanted to know what was up with Potter. And fast.
