𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 seemed strange because it was so normal. The daily activities continued: archery, rock climbing, Pegasus riding. They played capture the flag (though they all avoided Zeus's Fist). They sang at the campfire and raced chariots and played practical jokes on the other cabins. Polaris didn't mention her new-found responsibility to the others. They made enemies with Hera and learned about the last line of the prophecy: To lose a love to worse than death.

Polaris and Annabeth and Percy were still close, but they had trouble talking about what really mattered: Kronos. Annabeth was still touchy about Luke, and neither of the others wanted to upset her.

July passed, with fireworks on the beach on the Fourth. August turned so hot the strawberries started baking in the fields. Finally, the last day of camp arrived.

Polaris spent the school year the way she'd spent the others: traveling in between camp and New York, visiting Percy and his family. She considered taking Lecter to Texas to visit Eurytion and his ranch, and maybe dropping by Houston to see her dad. Something always came up, whether it was a legitimate excuse or not, and she didn't. They were really busy, and besides, she hadn't seen him in years, what was she supposed to say?

And soon, she really was too busy to see him.
