SONG OF THE DAY :
malibu - miley cyrus

. . . .

liquid courage was really an amazing thing.

chiasa, who once seemed timid, seemed to have forgotten all conflicts with the man beside her. she managed to shoot up multiple mundane one-on-one conversations with mixes of korean, japanese, and english.

youngho's brain was racked from her language transitions. he wasn't even fluent in japanese. he just had to make up translations as they went.

"why'd you make me call you youngho if you were actually johnny? fake identity?"

"hey, youngho's still a registered name," he defended. "i just . . . wanted to escape myself for a while. 'new life.' i was gonna tell you eventually.

"plus your voice sounded really sexy when we met so i wanted to hear you say it."

through making a poor attempt of holding it in, she laughed with all of her stomach. it went on for about three minutes before she pat him on the shoulder with teeth still flashed.

"you're slick, you know, seo?"

"are you sure you can handle her? on your back from here to her condo?"

chia was insufferable when wasted.

jace had seen it all. he cried the first time she got drunk in his arms. he was only eighteen after all.

how could an inexperienced eighteen year old handle a twenty-two year old purging her guts all out while running her mouth at innocent passersby and demanding to be carried all alone?

as much as jace didn't want to, he called her shitty boyfriend in the end to pick her up. but it was still a traumatizing sight.

now youngho had to get a taste of it. he sympathized with him. it was an exhausting responsibility.

(he knew he was a good guy who loved her and would be there through good and bad or whatever shit, but he honestly wouldn't judge if he just gave up left her on the streets.)

slurred, she said, "shut up, bitch."

"excuse."

as a nice best friend, he'd say he was used to her empty insults driven by alcohol but at this very moment, he wanted to rip that drunk smile off her face there and then.

"it's alright. she doesn't look that bad." reassuringly, youngho smiled.

youngho didn't bring a car, expecting to drink more than he had in months and to just hail a cab once the party was over.

but seeing how chia downed all those bottles in one sitting limited him from doing so. all he had was a small sip of beer (since she also stole the bottle).

after all, someone sober had to take her home.

"okay, call us if ever. good luck."

when they waved goodbye at the kia in motion, chia turned to youngho, grinning as if a light bulb had turned on above her head.

"johnny, joooohnnyyyy, let's get matchy tattoos. now. i know the perfect design."

he snickered, taking her arm to wrap around his shoulders before they walked. "you've been saying that for the past hour."

"are we gonna do it though?"

"yeah, fine."
