chapter eighteen- rumors

The next morning I could hear the sound of my phone vibrating I emerged my body from out the bed to check who was calling me it was Delilah I clicked accept then yawned while saying quietly

'do you ever check the time I just woke up'

Delilah explained

'of course I know the time but there's some really exciting news and some concerning news I need to share with you'

I yawned again then mumbled

'what's the exciting news'

Delilah exclaimed

'some rumours are going around that spiderman's got a girlfriend'

My head was screaming how did anyone know about this I quickly asked

'is there any proof that he's possibly got a girlfriend'

Delilah added excitedly

'yes there's a unclear photo of what looks like Spiderman kissing a girl but it could be a guy no one knows yet'

I then murmured

'well then what's the bad news'

Delilah explained in a serious tone

'norman osborn the CEO of oscorp got fired but after he got fired a glider at oscorp was stolen by someone'

I responded with

'that's crazy I have to go now see you at school'

I immediately hung up as I started getting ready once I was dressed and ready I rushed downstairs to make myself breakfast however my parents and siblings were already up ready for the day as soon as I entered the kitchen to put some bread in the toaster my mom grumbled

'so you've finally made your return to this house where were you for the entire night'

I ignored her as I began buttering my toast once I buttered my toast I quickly spread the Nutella on and sat down in the living room but for some reason my mum followed me she then asked

'why are you not talking to me now'

I explained

'well I just wondered through the town then came back here'

After saying that my mom left the room without saying another word to me as I continued to eat my toast in peace

Delilah was holding a massive newspaper in her hands the front cover was my biggest fear the rumour of me kissing spiderman I glanced at the newspaper for just a second before I looked back and Delilah who was grinning from ear to ear whoever took the photo must've been really clever I was continuously shaking lightly on the spot as my face turned bright red delilah asked in a concerned tone

'what's wrong girl is everything alright are you on that time of the month are you sick what's going on'

Delilah quickly put her arm around my shoulder as I stuttered

'y-yeah I'm a-alright I'm just t-thinking about something'

I started grinning so she didn't ask me anything else Delilah then sighed as she put the large newspaper back in her bag luckily it fitted or else she would've had to carry it around all day she smiled brightly as we began to walk to school

Peter/pov

I woke up as soon my alarm was ringing in my ears I immediately jumped out my bed to get ready once I was ready I rushed downstairs to make breakfast for myself my aunt smiled gleefully at me while saying

'good morning peter'

I responded with

'morning thank goodness I'm not in any rush today'

My aunt mumbled

'that's good darling by the way breakfast is on the table I've just made it'

I glanced at avocado toast and hot tea that was served at the table I quickly sat down as my aunt turned on the TV to watch the news but the first thing that came up on the news wasn't what I was expecting the news reporter explained seriously

'good morning this is the news at seven there was some really shocking news that has just come in'

The news reporter paused for a minute then carried on

'a blurry image of what people say looks like spiderman has been leaked all over social media'

I almost wanted to choke on my food how was an image of me leaked all over social media I questioned myself over and over again but I didn't find the reason why the news reporter then added

'as you can see here this is the image people have rumoured does spiderman have a secret girlfriend'

After finishing up the avocado toast and tea I grabbed my things I raced out the house saying loudly

'I have to go now aunt may see you later'
