I wake up with a start. I'm disorientated for a few seconds until I realise I'm in the park.

What am I doing here?

I try to remember what I did last night. I went for dinner with Libby and then... And then I'm not sure. I remember a feint glow that still warms my whole body. I haven't felt that feeling in a long time.

No but really what did I do?

I probably drank too much. Libby probably tried to take me home and I wandered off by myself. As I start to get up I feel a pang of pain course through my neck all the way up to my head. I rub the back of my neck and try to stop the pain. I probably passed out in an awkward position.

"Hey... Are you ummm okay?" I look up to see one of the bike girls. Her brown hair is tied into a bun. Her cheeks are bright red and her brown eyes are wide. She holds her bicycle in an awkward position to the side of her. She bites her lip.

"Uh... Fine."

"I saw you on the ground and I thought you were dead," bike girl says. "I was about to go call for help." She shifts from foot to foot uncomfortably.

"What time is it?" I ask. I rub my eyes and try to think. What day was it yesterday? Uhhhhh.... Flip, it was Sunday.

"It's ten o'clock," the girl says. My lectures. They started at nine thirty.

"Can I borrow that? Yeah, thanks," I say and grab her bicycle. I hop onto the bike with the basket filled with flowers and streamers. I swear this girl was Amity. As I pedal away I hear her mumble about how it's her pleasure and so on. I have a feeling she was being sarcastic. Ooh sassy Amity.

I arrived late and I found out why people call them lecturers. He talked about my tardiness more than that actual subject at hand. I should've pretended that I was still unconscious at the park.

"Nice bike, Four," Christina says with a laugh. I roll my eyes. She comes up behind me and falls in step behind me. I'm not sure how I'm going to get this bike back to its rightful owner. I would feel bad for keeping it- that and people would think I'm a freak for having a teenage girl's pretty pink bike.

"So I heard you went on a date with Libby last night," Christina says and elbows me.

"It wasn't a date."

"You can date other people you know that right? Tris would want that for you," she says and stops me. Her hand is resting cautiously on my arm. "She wouldn't want you to be alone forever."

"I'm just not ready. Libby is great but I-"

"But nothing, Tobias. I miss Tris too, she was my best friend. I can still feel her around us. I can feel that she's watching us somehow. She's still here with us even if she's not here physically. She would hate that after four years you're still acting as if you need to protect her. She was strong and brave and kind don't you remember? She was divergent, she didn't need anyone to protect her so stop acting like she does. She's in a better place where she doesn't need protection. Okay, Tobias?" Christina snarls. She turns on her heel and storms off.

What brought that on? I frown. It's not her life. It's mine and I can decide what I want to do with it. She's becoming more and more like my mother by the day. I can't choose who is worse though.

As I walk I think of what Christina said. Tris is still with us. Maybe just her spirit at least. The warm feeling returns in my chest but I can't think why. Tris couldn't possibly still be here. She died four years ago and no one comes back from the dead... But at the back of my mind something's telling me otherwise.
