Percy POV
'Protect your left side more.' I called, slashing left at Adrianna. She barely caught my blade with her dagger, stumbling back from the sudden slash. I swept her legs underneath her, causing her to fall onto the floor. I pinned her down, one foot pressed hard on her sword arm, forcing her to let go of the dagger, while Home was pointed at her neck, flames and mist extinguished of course.
Adrianna panted heavily. "I— I yield." I nodded, stepping off of her, sheathing Home before putting my hand out to help her out. She gladly accepted, standing up and picking up her dagger.
It's been 1 year since I had started training Adrianna, and there was still 6 months until the war. Adrianna has improved a lot, and I was starting to feel better about letting her fight at my side in the final battle.
'That was a good spar. But you have to remember to keep both sides guarded.' I complimented her. She nodded, before walking over to have a sip of fruitbeer, the drink equivalent to Earth's energy drinks on Griffaxlyne. It tasted sweet, like tropical fruit, but there was a very special type of tangy taste to the drink. It was amazing. It also served as a slight healing drink, so small cuts and bruises soon faded away.
I walked and sat down next to her, grabbing a cup of fruitbeer myself. 'How are you feeling?' I asked her.
"I'm a little tired and sore, but I'm good. Got any luck on deciphering the prophecy?" She asked me.
I sighed. 'I think I got the gist of it. But you won't like it.'
'So I'm guessing I'm supposed to forgive them fully. It's starting to ease into my mind, but it's still hard you know? It's been centuries since I've last seen any of them. I guess I can hold a grudge longer than Nico huh?' I joked lightly. Adrianna smirked slightly, gesturing for me to go on.
I took a deep breath for the next part. Because if I was right, there was a chance I wasn't going to see Chaos ever again.
'I might die in the battle against Tartarus. But if the last stone accepts me as it's Keeper, I would be revived as the Guardian of the Stones.' I muttered, my words softened at the beginning at the mention of my death. Adrianna's breath hitched.
"No. No! You can't die Phoe! I— can't— you've always been there for me like the big brother I've never had! I can't let you die! Just because of a stupid stone!" She cried hugging me tight. I rubbed her back slightly, a few tears slipping easily through the emotional facade I had put on that had obviously cracked a lot more ever since I met Adrianne and Chaos. It was now fragile, barely holding together.
'Adri, it's not just about the stone. I can't let the Olympians and Chaos fall. As much as I hate the Olympians, they're the best option of rulers that we've got to rule Earth with. And we can't let Tartarus kill Chaos either. The Universe would be destroyed. The Stone is only a way to bring me back to life if I were to die.' I whispered softly into her mind.
"Doesn't mean I have to like it." Adrianna sniffled.
The 2 of us stayed like for the rest of the day, both slowly processing the prophecy looming ahead of us.
AT CAMP HALF BLOOD
"No no no! How many times do I have to tell you, your legs need to be further apart for a steadier stance!" Nico yelled, frustrated.
The Romans, Hunters and Amazon's had kept up their training. With just slight corrections here and there, they were all ready, prepared and trained for battle. Even a lot of the minor gods had freshened up their fighting styles, and would stand with Olympus to get rid of Tartarus.
The Greeks, however, were a different story. After centuries of not raining, many Greek campers, even the immortal ones, have lost their fighting styles. They either forgot how to fight properly, or had absolutely no idea on how to hold a weapon at all. Even the Ares and Athena cabins. They were most famous for battling, yet none of them seem to know how to hold a sword.
The Greeks have also forgotten their fighting styles. Annabeth had declared that there wasn't a need to learn, so the fighting techniques were long forgotten.
Thalia and Nico were now training the 16-17 year olds. They were getting better, but there was still a long way to go.
Over the past year, the Greeks have split into 2. Some, like the immortal cabin leaders, were keen on going back to their old ways, learning how to fight with weapons. While others, who worshipped Annabeth, saw fighting as useless and refused to learn. Which led to a riot, and the 2 sides had fought day and night.
Finally, training was over and everyone began to stumble back to their cabins tiredly. Nico just sat there looking at the beautiful sunset that once looked beautiful with the splash of warm colours that painted the sky, but now looked bleak and dreary. Thalia walked over and hugged Nico tightly. They thought about the times when the 3 cousins would spar with their powers, and how Percy would make everyone smile with just a dumb joke and that sarcastic trouble aking smile.
"Where's Percy when you need him?" Nico cried sadly. Thalia just hugged him tighter.
"One day, Nico. We'll see him one day again." She whispered softly.
One day.
