It was a few days later, in the middle of the night, Charlie awoke in the night, getting up, walking across the hall to where his sister, Tori was asleep in her bed as she turned "Charlie?" She mumbled "Come here." She lifted her duvet as the brunette climbed in facing his sister "Charlie... what happened?" "You know, nightmares.." "About what?" "You know what happened with Ben?" "Yeah, Nick told me after school one day." "Yeah, can I lie here tonight?" "Of course you can, we better get some sleep, you have Truham and I have Higgs in less than 3 hours." He nodded, lying next to his older sister, turning around "I'll let mum know that you woke me because you couldn't sleep." "You don't have to." "I want to, now get some sleep."
The hours went by, it was soon 6:30am, Tori awoke, leaving her younger brother in bed, pulling on her dressing gown, walking downstairs where her mum was already awake "Morning mum." "Morning Victoria, sleep well?" "Not really, Charlie came to me in the night." There was no time to continue before Tori ran upstairs after hearing Charlie scream. Charlie shot up, a helpless whimper coming from his dry mouth. His whole body was shaking just like it had done three hours ago. His head was spinning, his stomach feeling horrible. Tori held him from behind "Same one again?" He nodded "I don't want to go to school today." Charlie's mum came upstairs "You don't have to, sweetheart. I've let Nick's mum know so he can come round and look after you." "Mum, he has his GCSE's." "They've been cancelled, sweetheart." "Oh." "Yeah, go back to bed for a while." "Will do mum." He got up, wrapping his blanket around his shoulders, walking over to his bedroom, closing the door behind him, climbing into bed.
It took Charlie a while for drop off to sleep but he still couldn't sleep, He grabbed his phone, checking his messages as Nick called him "Good morning." "Morning." "Sleep well, baby?" "No." "How come Char?" "Woke up twice, I had two nightmares last night." "About Ben?" "Yeah." "Are you still feeling pretty tired?" "Yeah, mum's not letting me go in today." "You sound really tired." "That's because I am tired." "Get some sleep for me, okay?" "Okay." He laid back down as Tori came in, tucking her brother in "Have a good sleep." "Hope so." Sleep found him easily and quickly as Tori turned off his light with a smile.
Four hours later, Charlie awoke at half 10, opening his eyes, stretching, turning around to a soft chest. He looked up and saw Nick lying next to him "Good morning, sleeping beauty." "Good morning." "Feel better?" "I do actually, I had a dream though." He croaked "About marrying the love of my life and that's you, Nick, you're the love of my life." Nick tilted his chin up. Soft, warm lips brushed his cheek in a tender, light kiss; happiness bloomed in his chest. Nick held his boyfriend tighter. And in that moment, he knew he had everything he ever wanted in life. To be happy. To be loved and to have someone to love. So he poured all that love into a chaste kiss to the raven locks, and snuggling deeper into Charlie's thick duvet.
His heart squeezes in his chest over how adorable Charlie is at that moment. "Char, can I ask you something?" He nodded "Are you a little?" He didn't answer "It's just a question, sweetheart." He slowly looked at him, lying his head on Nick's chest "Is that a yes, my beautiful baby boy?" He nodded "I'm not mad, not one bit. I went out before coming here and I got you a couple of things." He grabbed his bag from beside his boyfriend's bed, opening it, handing the first package to him.
Very slowly, he pulls at the package until white fur peeps through. Charlie's eyes grow about three sizes and he immediately starts clawing at the paper until the stuffed white bunny is visible. It's got white fur, green eyes, and velvety pink ears. Charlie picks it up and clutches the bunny against his chest, squeezing his eyes shut with another, quieter sob. The second package is less exciting; it's a brand new book by Lewis Carroll and a dummy. Charlie looks at the dummy like it's going to jump up and bite him, and Nick has to bite his lip to hold back a laugh. It's blue with a luminescent band, actually a Disney dummy. He's positive that there are adult dummies out there, but he's not sure where to find them. "Thumb out of your mouth for me, gorgeous." Nick says gently, holding the comfort item out as he took his thumb out, lips parting slightly, so Nick takes that as permission and slides the dummy in.
