Hey Earthlings! Here's chapter 8:
As the girls got ready for bed, Hermione said conversationally, "So, Lily, what's up with you and Lysander?" Ginny looked up eagerly.
"Wh- What? Nothing!" Cried Lily, feeling her cheeks heat up.
"Well, do you have a crush on him?" Ginny pushed, grinning.
"I- no! Absolutely not!" Said Lily untruthfully. Ginny raised her eyebrows, but Lily refused to meet her eye and focused on brushing her hair.
To be quite honest, Lily had felt odd around Lysander for some time now, though she refused to give it a second thought.
"Are you sure?" Asked Hermione with a knowing expression.
"Yes! We're just friends!" Lily said, her face bright red and resembling a human tomato.
"Just friends?" Smiled Ginny, "Not even a teensy bit more than that?"
"No!" Said Lily firmly.
But she faltered under the looks Ginny and Hermione gave her. "I- fine! I might like him, just a tiny little bit!" Ginny and Hermione grinned with satisfaction and the three of them made their way to the bathroom to brush their teeth.
"So," Smirked Lily, keen to turn the tables, "What's up with you and Ron, Hermione?" Hermione's face blushed crimson and she was suddenly very intent on brushing her teeth.
"Yeah, Hermione!" Ginny said, joining in. She then informed Lily: "Hermione refuses to admit that she likes the git. Personally, the reason why she fancies the mindless twerp is beyond me!"
"No! I don't!" Hermione said, blushing furiously. "I don't even fancy him in the first place!"
Lily and Ginny exchanged a grin and three girls finished getting ready for bed.
Because Ginny and Hermione finished brushing their teeth first, the two exited the bathroom, telling Lily that they would wait for her in Ginny's room.
Once Lily finished, she stepped out of the bathroom, and as she closed the door she heard it creak. Lily felt shivers rush down her spine and hurried as quietly as she could back to their bedroom. As she walked past Ron's room, where Harry and Lysander were staying, she heard the boys talking. Her name was mentioned and she paused outside the door, listening.
"Lily...time turner...fake..." Lily heard snippets of Harry's voice. She stepped closer to the door, if that was possible, and pressed her ear to it.
"No...not true..." Denied Lysander, though Lily couldn't hear his full sentence, as the boys were talking quietly.
"Maybe she is!" Said Ron loudly after Harry kept mentioning Lily and the time turner and Lysander kept denying something.
"Maybe she isn't!" Cried Lysander, just as loud.
"Maybe she isn't!" Agreed Ron. "Maybe she is. We don't know! Does it matter, anyway? The Order can take care of it! Besides, she's our age, is she much of a threat?"
"Yes, of course it matters!" Said Lysander angrily. "She's innocent, I won't allow you guys to think she's not."
"It matters, of course it does!" Said Harry, ignoring Lysander. "There could be a death eater right in this house, at this moment, no matter the age!"
Lily felt faint. They think I'm a death eater? Lily staggered and knew she couldn't hear anymore. She felt like a plague in Grimmauld Place. Once she got herself to Ginny's room, she found that Ginny and Hermione were both in their beds, facing opposite sides of the room.
Lily turned off the light, and climbed into her camp bed. Nestled in the thick quilts that Mrs Weasley lended her, she looked up at the cracks in the ceiling. The cracks in the ceiling seemed to be swaying, moving in an odd fashion. Lily told herself it was probably just a hallucination.
But as she looked more intently at it, Lily realised the cracks in the ceiling were actually moving. The cracks formed together into a carving of a realistic snake, and the snake hissed. It seemed to look right at Lily and glare at her.
Petrified in shock and fear, Lily lay in the camp bed, unable to move. Her Gryffindor nature was telling her to look carefully at it, but Lily refused to, she rolled over and closed her eyes, reassuring herself that it hadn't happened, the cracks hadn't formed a snake.
Panting, Lily felt cold sweat all over her body, and she snuck a peek at the ceiling again. Yes, the snake-crack was still there.
Taking a deep breath, she decided to think about other things. The boys' conversation came to mind and she racked her brains of times that night she'd acted like a death eater. She wasn't one, so why did Harry think she was?
Lily sighed and looked from the left side of her to the right. Ginny and Hermione both already seemed to have fallen asleep. It felt like just a few moments ago she'd heard Harry accusing her of being a death eater, and a second ago she'd walked into the bedroom. It must've been a long time if Ginny and Hermione were already asleep.
As Lily tossed and turned in the camp bed, she just couldn't seem to fall asleep. When she finally managed to get some rest, she had terrible dreams. All she could think about was how much she wished the morning would come.
Anddddd... a plot twist!! Mwahaha 😈😈😈 because I live for these XD
