Hey Earthlings! I'm giving you chapter 10 a day early! Enjoy <333
Ginny's head shot up and Harry turned so fast it looked like he got a crick in his neck.
"W- What is it?" Hermione asked urgently. "It could be really important!"
Lily bit her lip and said uncomfortably, "Well... Look, please don't take this the wrong way, Harry, but..."
"Yeah?" Harry prompted, rubbing his neck, the others nodding along with him (except Ron, his attention was still fully on spreading yet another layer of marmalade on a fresh piece of toast).
"Well, you know how you can see into Voldemort's mind? I mean, when you dream and stuff." Lily said nervously.
Harry nodded and opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly paused and eyed Lily suspiciously, asking rudely, "How do you know?"
Hermione's eyes widened and she cried, "Harry, it's supposed to have already stopped, haven't you been practising Occlumency?"
The suspicious look on Harry's face turned to a sheepish expression, and he replied, "I've tried, Hermione, I promise I have!"
Hermione scoffed and turned away, Ginny gave a sympathetic look, and Ron shrugged when Harry looked to him for help.
"So, anyway," Harry cleared his throat and turned back to Lily, fixing her again with a suspicious look, "How do you know that I've been having those dreams?"
"Dad, AKA you, told your whole story to James, Albus, and me." Explained Lily.
Harry's eyes widened, "I did?" Lysander nodded, confirming it.
"I never really thought much about it," Lily said, "But now it seems to fit in like a puzzle piece."
Harry sighed, defeated, and asked, "Well, what about it?"
Lily leaned in, eyes darting to the left and right, making sure no one except the other teens heard her, and said, "I think Voldemort" -Ron jumped in his seat, his toast forgotten, and Hermione gave a little frightened yelp- "Is making you think this way."
Harry's eyes just about popped out of his head, and he stuttered, "Wh- What? He's making me think you're a death eater?"
Lily leaned back in her chair and said, "At least I think so."
Lysander nodded in agreement, and added, "And Lily's almost always right." After Lysander confirmed Lily's suspicions, the five children fell silent, each one wrapped in their own thoughts.
Lily's mind wandered back to the snake on the ceiling from last night. If Voldemort could have imputed the idea that I'm a death eater into Harry's mind, could he have done this?
Not a second later, Ginny spoke almost exactly what Lily had been thinking, "If You-Know-Who was able to make Harry think Lily's a death eater, don't you think he could be capable of doing, or changing for that matter, something else, something greater?"
After she spoke, Ginny's eyes darted to Lily, and for a second Lily was worried Ginny knew about the snake, but the look was over just as fast as it had started.
"Hm..." Hermione said thoughtfully, "I suppose that could happen. I mean, making Harry think a certain way is already very powerful magic, this could hint that he's able to do more."
Ron gulped and replied, "Well, I sure hope not. Imagine what he could do!"
Lysander opened his mouth to respond, but just that moment Tonks came walking back in, with the other adults close behind her.
"Harry, dear," Mrs Weasley began worriedly, placing comforting hands on Harry's shoulders, "Tonks has told me about how You-Know-Who has been making you think- Ah, certain ways."
"Well, we've been thinking about letting Mad-Eye accompany you when you go outside in public. This may reduce the chance of another incident from happening." Mr Weasley finished for his wife.
Ron's eyes widened, "Harry's getting a personal body-guard?!?"
"I- No! I can't! I don't need it!" Harry jumped up and flinched when he realised his words sounded so childish. "I mean- I don't think I need an auror accompanying me. I'm perfectly fine."
Hermione raised an eyebrow. "Personally, I agree with Mr Weasley. It's for the better."
"Who asked what you think?" Harry snapped. Hermione took a step back, but Harry didn't apologise for his outburst.
Harry looked over at Sirius for help, but he just shrugged.
"It's just for a little while, dear." Mrs Weasley coaxed.
Turning back to Mr Weasley, Harry made up his mind. "Fine, I'll let Mad-Eye come with me."
Lupin sighed with relief, "Good. This could get really dangerous. Even though we can't guarantee that it'll help block out your mind -that's what your Occlumency lessons with Snape are for- it can definitely help with keeping your mind off it."
Lysander changed the topic, directing it to the other kids. "I was wondering, how come you're at home when Lily and I were at Hogwarts in 2025?"
Hermione's eyebrows furrowed, thinking. "Well, we're on Easter break right now. Our Easter breaks must be at different timings."
Lily nodded. "That makes sense. But there's something else that doesn't..."
Another cliffhanger! I just love these 😈. Can you guess what the thing that doesn't make sense is? Hint: You already know what this is... Hehe.
Make sure to vote if you liked this chapter, it motivates me to keep writing! The next update will be posted on Friday, so stay tuned :))
Have a day as awesome as you are! (tho I don't think that's possible <3)
