"with Steve" Nat replied, going to the fridge to get a bottle of water.
"What exactly happened?" I asked, noticing their disheveled states.
"Barnes was very disoriented. he tried to fight several of us, it took us a lot of convincing for him to realize we weren't a threat" explained Stark
"What about you, Lady Y/n, What did you do while we were gone?" Thor asked, his eyes darting from his father on the couch to me
"Nothing, really" I shrugged "I read, watched TV, and had a chat with your father" I trailed nonchalantly. Loki raised his eyebrows at the last thing I said, I was going to approach him, but something else caught my attention. I redirected my gaze to the two men entering the living area.
"Sorry" Bucky said remorsefully, glancing between the team
"Don't worry pal" Stark said with a dismissing wave of his hand, but Bucky still looked regretful, and I had a feeling it was not only because of the early encounter.
"Well..." Steve started trying to diffuse the tension "This is Y/n, the only one you haven't met yet" He said. diverting the topic and introducing us
"James Barnes, Nice to meet you" He said, politely nodding to me
"Oh, I know" I said, then realized it sounded weird "Oh, I mean- um... I sighed "nice to meet you too" I finally let out
"How do you know me?" he asked curiously
"Oh...Well, Long short story-"
"Lady Y/n is from another universe," Thor said, cutting me off
"Yes, what he said" I said, narrowing my eyes at Thor for interrupting me, who merely smiled meekly in response. I shook my head and looked back at Bucky, who looked confused.
"yes, from one where we are all fictional characters" added Thor before leaving to the kitchen. Bucky glanced at Steve, furrowing his eyebrows looking even more confused than before. "I'll explain to you later" Steve said chuckling
"So...Barnes how do we know you won't turn against us, how-?" Loki started but was interrupted
"the same way we know you won't" Stark replied before Bucky "we don't, "we just hope for the best, and.... just between you and me, he's a lot more reliable than you" he concluded.
"Stark, I believe the question wasn't aimed at you" Loki said pinching the bridge of his nose "If you let me finish" he said glaring at the billionaire then sighed resuming the question "How do we know your mind is healed is, it possible that they can still take ahold of you again?" he asked with no intend malice in his words but genuine curiosity
"My mind is in scrambles and...- "
"and that's why we will help him recover fully" I interjected, sounding harsher than intended. Loki darted his eyes towards me and nodded, his lips pressed on a thin line looking like he wanted to say something but abstained.
