Where's your lavatory please?
Eve
Oh there's one downstairs by the study just through here
Marie nods and leaves
Maggie stays seated and buries her face in a book, her head is down so she does not see those who have entered
Stephanie, William and Eloise enter stage left.
Stephanie sneaks past William and Evelyn disappearing into the study. William storms a head, being abruptly stopped in his tracks as he meets Evelyn.
Eve
Oh Mr Dunton! I wasn't aware of your attendance
William
I'm was jsut suspicious about this all woman meeting that you've seem to have organised
Eve
You have nothing to worry about Mr Dunton, in fact it's quite fortunate you're here.
William
And why would that be?
Eve
I'm sure you'll find out, do help yourself to a newspaper from my study should you please, just through here.
William exists stage right into the study.
Eloise gingerly walks up to Evelyn.
Eve
Mrs Dunton! Welcome! So glad you could make it
Eloise
I'm so sorry my husband insisted he came along
Eve
Oh don't worry about him dear.
Take a seat. Was that miss Boyd I saw walk past? I must go and say hello!
Eve quickly leaves stage right leaving Eloise alone.
Eloise walks towards the coffee table where Maggie is sat reading.
Maggie sees someone enter and quickly sits up with a smile.
Maggie
Hello I'm Maggie Harris!
She offers out a hand to shake, which Eloise takes reluctantly
Eloise
Eloise Dunton.
Maggie
Oh I feel like I recognise you from somewhere
She stares at her with great intent
Eloise
Maybe we've crossed paths
Maggie
Dunton...oh yes you're William Dunton's wife! oh you must hate all the rumours going round
Eloise
Rumours, no sorry you must have the wrong person
Maggie
Oh I perhaps you're right
Eloise
Yes, I think it would seem that you are most certainly wrong
Eloise is insulted by the statement and quickly leaves. She enters the study on stage right where William and Stephanie have been sat quickly bickering.
Eloise, cont.
May we have a moment (To Stephanie)
Eloise joins her husband and Stephanie walks out to see Maggie sat looking at a book. She is incredibly shocked to her there and stops in her tracks
