Marie
This was your plan all along

Eve
I'm sorry but whatever do you mean-

Marie
You wanted everyone's secrets to be revealed...
I mean it can't have been by chance... thatI was placed in a room with William, that Maggie was sat next to Stephanie. You wanted us all to be found out.

The air around Eve shifts and she realises Marie now knows,

Eve
You are smart Marie-

Marie
You are vile Evelyn, to bring people together in a time like this, just to tear them apart. You have ruined lives

Eve
I didn't mean to ruin anything-

Marie
And all to fill your boredom. Your insanity is why you are alone.

Eve
I'm alone because my husband died at war-

Marie
You are alone because your husband killed himself. Eve, the town pittys you for that. We all have our struggles, we all have our secrets, but sometimes....secret is how we want them to be kept.

Marie takes one final look at Evelyn before she exists stage left.

Eve is left stunned, confused and broken. She in a state of frustration. she wipes away a tear and goes to her desk to continue writing letters.
She picks up a pen and paper and begins to write whilst speaking aloud:

Eve
Dear Penelope Jacobs, It is with the upmost importance that you attend a gathering at my household at noon this coming Sunday.

With a final loud click of the quilll, the letter is complete and the play ends with Evelyn Spencer starting the entire process again.
