It was a given since the very beginning.

Beomgyu, no matter how hard he tries not to, always has his eyes land on Taehyun naturally—like breathing the cold air of February. It goes without thinking.

And maybe it wouldn't be so strange if Taehyun didn't always act like Beomgyu was the bane of his existence.

"He's going to melt," Yeonjun told him once while they were eating a few minutes after lunch time. His gaze lost in the ocean of people in the cafeteria, but unconsciously finding its way to a scarlet haired boy talking to a bunch of students that passed by him.

"I never knew it was fine to dye your hair in school."

"It's not fine, but it's not not fine either."

Beomgyu scoffed at that. Yeonjun isn't really the best source of information, even though he works as a Values Education teacher. A month of knowing the man is enough for him to know how reckless he can be but surprisingly still get to keep the job nonetheless.

Not that it matters now anyway. Taehyun still did it and now he stands out from the crowd. Maybe even without his glasses, Beomgyu can see Taehyun from a mile away with such an eye-catching color.

"Three years," Yeonjun pulled Beomgyu out of his daze. "I've been working here for three years now, spent two of them with Taehyun, and I should let you know that you're playing with fire."

It didn't need a genius to understand what the other was implying. All Yeonjun had seen of him the whole week is him watching Taehyun from a distance, put two and two together, and you'll get a Beomgyu shaking his head in disbelief. "You're misunderstanding something here."

"So, you don't like him?" Out goes what Yeonjun was meaning.

"Not in that way. I'm just intrigued? He's always quiet and he's hard to approach. Last time, I stopped by his advisory class to send in some papers and he looked annoyed."

"I would be annoyed if anyone disturbed my class like you did with his."

Beomgyu completely forgot about that part of the story. "Well, I didn't know!"

"Knock next time, Beomgyu. Like a regular person. Maybe he'll open the door for you."

_______________

Would he though? There are walls built that not even a cannonball can take down, a knock doesn't compare in any way.

That's probably the reason why Beomgyu didn't feel right allowing his heart to beat fervently from having Taehyun this close. He was declared unreachable like the stars watching over them from above, and Beomgyu was scared that if he even tried, the other would only lock his door tighter.

"What are you thinking about?" Taehyun's breath hit Beomgyu's skin. It felt warm amidst the chilly breeze of spring.

Beomgyu ponders, uncertain of what he should say. Silence lasted more than he planned and it drew a frown on Taehyun's lips. "Nothing," He finally said. "Just your red hair from before."

"Oh, it was short-lived."

"It was ravishing."

The same hue tinted Taehyun's cheeks and he only wished the dark could hide it for him. "Why are you thinking about it?"

"I don't know. I remember how much you hated me back then."

Taehyun lets out a soft gasp—Beomgyu thinks everything about Taehyun was soft. "That's not true."

The denial had Beomgyu hold back a teasing smile. "The stars saw everything."
