Electricity filled the hot summer air with excitement and anticipation. The graduation ceremony was over and students were cheering as they headed for the school bus, their bikes or their cars. You and a couple of girl friends were going home to prepare for tonight's party.

"Just one year left and it'll all be over." Your friend Mia said as you jumped into the front seat of her car. "Finally summer break. I'm going to spend every day at the pool."

"And pretend to drown just to have Billy save you?" Your other friend Sarah smirked.

Mia laughed whilst she drove out of the parking lot. "Yep, that's right. So hot."

Billy had moved to your school last term and quickly grew popular by his good looks and intriguing characteristics. He had tried flirting with you on several occasions but you knew what type of guy he was. You tried to give him a chance and let him take you on a date once, but he just proved you right - high school boys were all the same. Shallow, superficial and stupid. You had politely turned him down when he wanted to take you home after that coffee at the café at 3PM...

But Mia hooked up with him at a party a few weeks back.  You've only had one boyfriend ever and that was back in freshman year; Kyle, and the relationship lasted for some months until you broke up with him. It was nothing dramatic and there was no bad blood, you just didn't have any feelings for him. Honestly you hadn't had feelings for anyone since probably 5th grade, and were in no rush to find a new boyfriend. Plus... the attention you got from boys could be quite amusing and fun. You were pretty popular in school, liked by a lot of people since you were kind to everyone.

"Are you going to try and get with him tonight?"

"You already know it!"

"Do you think Harrington is going to be there?" Sarah wondered.

"I hope so! So hot." Mia responded.

Right, Steve Harrington. Yeah, that's the neighbor you had a crush on from 1st to 5th grade. He was a year older than you and you remembered how you'd feel butterflies in your stomach whenever he smiled at you in elementary school. Sometimes he said hi. You were always too shy to hold a conversation and that was the end of the story. Mia on the other hand had liked him since forever and probably still did.

Such a stereotypical high school boy. An immature player. You might've said hi once or twice at some party and in school but you had zero interest in hanging out with those kind of boys. He used to hang out with Tommy H and Carol, ew. Mia had hung out with the mean couple a few times this term though.

"I want to wear my blue dress tonight. Do you think it's too short?" Sarah asked.

"No, it's super pretty, wear it." You assured her. "God, I have no idea what to wear." You were already regretting the friend group you decided to go with tonight. But it was tradition - you and Mia had been friends since you were little and always attended graduation celebrations together.

You ended up wearing a black skirt and a knitted pale blue sweater with black high boots(like that one pinterest pic of faye wong..) and sunglasses in your hair. The big party was located at one of the seniors' houses, more specifically Austin Cawley's, the boyfriend of Vicki Carmichael. Rumors were that Vicki hooked up with Billy around Christmas but Austin and her were still together. High school drama - you were so sick of it.

You could hear the party long before you saw it when Mia drove down the street to park outside. You hopped out the vehicle and walked to the front door. It was 8.30PM and people had probably been partying since school ended a few hours ago.
