I've had five life altering moments that have left me completely and utterly shattered inside.
The death of my Mama, the death of my Lunita, the day I thought Nova and Rune were dead, the day I found the truth of what happened to Nova...and now, the day my only daughter has gone missing
That was three days ago, she left Friday night. It's Sunday night, 10 minutes away from the clock striking 12 when someone I did not expect to show up at my door appears
He called me hours ago, telling me about some woman in the apartment where he was staying undercover
Joel, my brother. I hung up on him twice, I didn't have time for some hooker he thinks I'm sleeping with while my daughter is missing
Rune is in the middle of yelling at one of their friends for losing Nova during the party Friday night when the knock on the door comes
"What?" I snap at my older brother as soon as I open the door
He throws his arms up and sighs exasperated, following me into the kitchen where my sons are
"Seriously? You couldn't have listened to me on the phone? You could've spared me a four hour fucking drive Emilio!" He snaps
"I don't have time for your shit" I say rubbing my eyes
Rafael hands me a glass of whiskey and I gulp it down. There's still no sign of Nova and we just returned from an 8 hour search through town. Our PI only found pictures of her leaving Lexi's boat with a group of guys
That was our last lead, and it came through yesterday. We've found nothing since
I don't even want to think about the possibilities, what danger she could be in surrounded by older people. Drunk. Vulnerable
"Yeah you said so but this is important" he says but then comes to a stop when he sees Rune sitting on the counter
Red eyed and looking like he hasn't slept or eaten in days, which is exactly the case
"Who's that?" Joel asks
"That, brother, is Rune" I say and watch Lucas stumble down the stairs. I bring him to my side when I see the expression I know too well, he's about to cry
So I wrap an arm around him and sit him on a stool as silent tears fall down his cheeks. Joel takes a step back, shocked
"It...he? Oh. Oh fuck" my brother covers his mouth with his fist
He walks towards Rune to hug him but my son stops him with a frown and a raised brow. Joel steps back, still shocked with the revelation
"Wait is..is she..?" He tries to ask about Nova
"She's alive, but currently missing" Santiago mumbles from where he's pressed to his computer screen trying to find anything that leads us to her
