Day 2

"For the last time Benito stop touching my fucking pussy!"

I sigh, the first time I heard that I got really concerned until I looked over to see Benito, a scrawny Mexican kid with a devilish grin, touching Fiona's pillow

Not her pussy

The thing is, she's 71, suffers from dementia and used to have a Persian cat. She apparently dyed its white fur a bright neon pink but the cat died years ago according to nurse Wade

Here's where it gets weird, Fiona carries around this bright pink pillow with her and thinks it's her late cat or—pussy.

Benito's here for the same reason as me, suicide attempt. I learned during this morning's group therapy that his family got deported and he had to stay here with his bio rich dad

His mom and his four half sisters were sadly sent back and he wasn't because of his dad's influence. He hates him because he didn't do anything to help his family

It's been interesting to learn about other people's lives. Most of their stories are pretty damn heartbreaking

I got here yesterday, although it feels like I've been here longer. The nurses and staff have been really nice, I was searched all over upon arrival by a woman.

My dad's orders include that I'm not — under any circumstances — to be touched by any man. I'm grateful for that, even though all the guy nurses like Wade are pretty cool

They took me to my room, it's small and white and boring. They gave me a set of — anti asphyxiation, anti choking and I don't know what the fuck else — clothes

Toiletries like soap and toothbrush are handed personally by a nurse when we shower (under their watchful eyes)

There are no phones or personal belongings, not even books unless we ask for one to read on the common area as well as the puzzles, coloring books and card games

There's always at least a trio of nurses with us, meal times are weird. The food is good because well...rich people. But I've learned that it can be a somewhat dangerous time

For some reason, there's been a fight in every single meal time since I got here...to be fair I've only been to three but hell I don't know how the nurses handle it

"Benito, please respect Fiona's personal space" nurse Irina says

He slumps further into the uncomfortable couch with a pout "I'm bored, Irina, what the hell am I supposed to do?" He whines

He's 16 but you wouldn't be able to tell, years of working in construction since he was 9 have made him bulk a lot of muscle

"Not bother the old twig" Mercy-not-Macy says without looking up from her puzzle on the floor

I call her that because she's made it her life mission to point out in every single conversation we've had how I called her Macy on my first day
