Have you ever experienced some good Dungeons and Dragons action? If so, you might relate, cry or facepalm at 1HP club by elfboi.

Summary

Follow the daily adventures and mishaps of a daily dungeon team whose collective IQ matches the words I've written so far in this review (49 if your wondering, 54 with the title). There's no telling what this group of unlikely adventures will encounter besides certain death.

Characters

Note: The first name will be the character's real name, and the second will be their in-game character name.

Tim/Imsh: A hearty half-orc barbarian, Imsh is the brute/heart of the entire guild. Imsh may not be the brightest, but he is blunt in his intentions and actions.

Theo/Obi: A flirtatious and bewitching elvish assassin, Obi's tongue is as sharp as his peni- I mean rapier. Totally meant rapier. He's cocky, mischievous, and always ready to throw or throw someone else down.

Jesus/Solaire: The holy Paladin and righteous healer of the group, Solaire has the purest intentions of the group. Too bad he has the same brain function as a sponge (as in none). He can often recklessly get in trouble while praising his morality and sun.

Izzy/Alice: A human thief, Alice has a huge crush on Obi. Making her share many of her crushes traits but with a spitfire tone and complete shallowness for money.

Jade/No-One: The strong silent type, No-One usually observes from the background with a stoic face.

Gareth/God: The Dungeon Master of our gaggle of goofballs, God, is the only one who can hold the reigns of his group's actions. He's almost always exhausted by their actions and punishes all accordingly when pushed.

Overview

Dungeons and Dragons have always been something that I've wanted to pursue fully for myself. I'm a sucker for good stories and RPGs, so DnD is an excellent mix of them. While even reading this on Canvas, I read a similar webtoon called Dungeon Mini's, which I may cover in the future. So I was intrigued before even reading. Thankfully I had a lot more to get hooked up on.

Despite being a comedy webtoon, elfboi is straight-up gorgeous. The character designs are some of the most intriguing I've seen in a while and perfectly capture some juicy fight scenes. The real kicker, though, is, of course, the jokes. Seeing the suboptimal decisions of both the players and in-game characters is hilarious. It captures the complete freestyle nature of the group. Not everyone here is 100% competent, and I'm all the happier for it.

Another detail I love is that sometimes we get music-based chapters, and unlike others who use it, 1 HP club often has sounds that match up with the character's actions. It's a beautiful way of adding immersion to a story. Right now, it's only recently started surpassing its story over from Canvas, so we'll have to see what crazy epics our characters get into next.

Epilogue

Overall, 1 HP Club is a fun ride I want to revisit in the future. Its campaign is just starting, and the chapters are short, so you can catch up quickly. Until then, though, I think it's high time we turn the spotlight to the final entry in this third cluster.
