Food Wars: The Heaven's Senses

Soma vs. Eizan

Hikari woke up bright and early the next morning, taking into account the words the the new director had said the previous night. Starting that morning, she would be watching all of the accepted Food Wars. She quickly got dressed, hardly taking the time to admire her immaculate room and went to make a morning cup of coffee in her own personal kitchen near her bedroom area. As she did, Hikari turned on the television to watch the student morning news, and what she saw was even more shocking than she could have imagined.

"Attention! A Food War has been accepted. I repeat, there will be a Food War. Etsuya Eizan has accepted the challenge and the competition will begin at any moment."

Before the reporter could say anything else about the match, Hikari heard a knock as her door. 

"Come in." She called out, a maid stepping into the room with a respectful bow.

"Good morning, Ma'am. Did you sleep well?" She asked.

"I did, really well in fact. Now, what's this I hear about a Food War?" Hikari asked.

"Yes, I was just about to tell you, but I guess the news got to it first. I'm here to bring you to the car so that you may watch the Food War Eizan is going to be participating in."

"Might I ask who he's competing against?"

"Yes. It's your brother."

Hikari's eyes widened, but she wouldn't expect anything less from her older twin. She quickly finished her coffee and followed the maid to the car. It didn't take long before they made it to a traditional Japanese style building, where she was escorted to the battle area. 

Hikari nodded at the judges, who looked at her with both amazement and fear. They had heard stories about the fiery Heaven's Senses that could point out any kind of mistake using her five senses, but the way she looked wasn't like how they imagined. They had heard that she was wild, loud, not afraid to speak her mind and was as crazy as her cooking was delicious. 

But now.... It was like they were looking at a doll without its soul. Completely empty.

The judges didn't have much more time to think about Hikari as she sat down next to the farther right judge and the two competitors walked in. Soma showed his surprise when he saw his sister sitting by the judges, but he focused on his goal: to beat Eizan for the sake of his dorm, and then, take back his sister.

They went to the back where all the cooking supplies were to talk about the Food War.

"The theme of the battle is, local Satsuya chicken from Kagoshima." Eizan announced with a smirk as he stared a the older Yukihira, "It has a high degree of fat with a unique texture and depth of Umami." 

Soma however, ignored the boastful Eizan and looked over the ingredients.

"Hey, are you even listening to me, you idiot? What are you doing?"

"Just checking out the ingredients, dude." Soma replied, "This is you I'm dealing with. Never know when you're gonna pull some dirty trick and all."

"Oh, like what, crush you in front of your little sister out there?" Eizan teased, "Do whatever makes you feel good. It's going to be great to show off my skills in front of that little spitfire of a sister. Maybe she'll actually talk to me well enough this time."

Before Soma could say anything back, someone burst into the room with a loud cry.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING EIZAN!" A red haired girl, one of the Council of Ten, shouted as she burst into the room.

"What the hell are you doing here, Rindo?" Eizan asked before being immobilized in a choke hold by Rindo.

Soma watched as the two just wrestled, Eizan being the clear loser in the battle. But then, he started to think about Hikari and how she was doing. He had hoped that she was going to be okay.
