** Nathaniel Masters **

I was running out of forest to hide in.

I could see, not far in front of me, was open sky, no trees, no foliage, just open space.

A huge cliff face walled off the open area on all sides.

Even if I was to go out, there was nowhere to go.

He was also pushing me further and further away from Devin.

Dammit.

I'm trapped, Devin's far away, and we're both lost.

I quickly duck for cover in some bushes behind a tree.

I hold my breath as I listen for any sound.

My heart thumping loudly my chest, making any other sound almost impossible to hear.

I silently took deep breaths, trying to calm myself.

I need to think of a way to get out of this.

And fast.

What was i thinking, to believe that I could have fought off this man and save Devin.

I should have gone back and gotten our parents.

But that's what he would have wanted anyways.

To get face-to-face with Devin's dad, and kill him and then take Devin.

Would my Dad even care?

That's a whole other question.

Last time I saw them they were at each other's throats.

Would my dad actualy care enough to save his brother and his nephew from their crisis.

Terance creating this problem, and well...

Devin the unfortunate victim.

This madman also claims to know something that would make my Dad mad enough to kill my uncle, uh.

Damn, forgot his name.

Question is, what is it?

Suddenly,  something dropped out of the sky and landed a short distance away, interrupting my thoughts.

"Where are you, brat?" I heard suddenly, so close that I almost jumped out of the bushes.

It was him. He's close.

"I know you're nearby, and I know you can hear me.

I also hope you're scared,  because when I find you, you're going to be sorry.

But by then, there's nothing you'd be able to do but watch as your life slips away.

And I take you apart, piece by piece."

I felt my knees buckle.

My legs trembled.

He wasn't planning on sparing me in any way.

"But you can keep hiding, I'll be back shortly. I have to go find my precious nephew.

You can join us... if you dare. We'll both be very happy to see you."

There was a loud crackling as the ground broke with the force of him flying off.

I let out a sigh of relief.

He's gone.

"Is he gone?" I heard suddenly from beside me a few moments later.

I flew out of the bushes.
