Aurora and Laurel were like two peas in a pod, Laurel was like a second mom to her. Aurora felt like she could go to laurel about things that she couldn't tell her mom. Even though Aurora was like a second daughter to Laurel, she didn't react the way a mom would when you tell her certain things.
She reacted like she more of a friend then a mother. she tries to understand it and help fix what ever problem it is. Thats why Aurora and Laurel always had little life update talks the first week of summer. they would wait till the sun started to set and they would go out onto the beach and just catch up on everything that's going on with life.
I think that's why aurora was so hard by laurel's words, because she knew that something was going on with aurora but it was almost like she didn't care.
Aurora opened the door to see a concerned belly standing outside her room. You could tell belly felt bad for what her mom had said to the curly headed girl. All it took was belly walking in and hold her arms out to aurora for her to breakdown and rush into belly's arms.
The two of them stood there holding each other. the only noise you could hear was aurora's sobs, it was heartbreaking. anyone who could hear the sobs knew that was laurel said affected aurora more then she led on.
" its okay Lora, she didn't mean it, I promise. " belly whispered bringing the weeping girl over to her bed. Aurora couldn't even say anything back, she just wanted to forget everything that happened tonight.
Aurora soon calmed down and was slowly falling asleep. belly was playing with her hair as aurora laid on her chest. Finally belly heard the sound of soft snores and soon realized that she has to head back to her room.
Moving Aurora gently she tries her best to leave without waking aurora up. when she finally got close to the door she was stopped by a soft voice " don't leave me bells " Aurora whispered lifting her head up a bit.
Belly was frozen she didn't want to leave but she couldn't imagine what people would say if they found them cuddle up with each other in the morning. " Please bells? " Aurora asked one more time
" Okay I won't, I promise " belly nods climbing back into the girls bed. Immediately aurora wraps her arms around her as belly does the same. it wasn't until belly heard those soft snores that she began to fall asleep herself
Aurora wakes up to an empty bed, belly didn't keep her promise. Aurora changed into a something basic. a pair of light pink shorts with a white crop top and some white converse. moving on to her hair she decided that she wanted to leave it out today.
As she came down stairs she was met with Jeremiah trying to cook while steven hovered over him, trying to somewhat annoy him. " Morning guys " Aurora smiles looking through the refrigerator trying to find some fruit to snack on
" Do we really have to physically sit for our portraits? can't we just send her a picture on her phone or something? " Jeremiah questions " Portraits? " Aurora asked walking over to the table
" Susannah wants to paint a portrait of you kids, she needs to see you in the flesh in order to capture your essence while you're still young and full of hope " Laurel explains not before looking up to see the guys giving her a weird look
" Well, Conrad does not have hope, actually he's hopeless, but my hangover smoothie cures all " Jeremiah jokes " can you please just hurry up? " conrad complaints " just go back to bed, all right? " Jeremiah remarks
" Lora about what I said last night " Laurel utters looking over to Aurora " Laurel I know you didn't mean it, you were just upset. its fine, I promise! " Aurora rushed out noticing how everyone gave her concerned looks
" Come on man, hurry your ass up. all right? i can't be late for my first day of work " Steven huffs giving jeremiah a look " We won't. We're good " Jeremiah assures " those old country club boomers are gonna tip me so hard, they won't know what hit 'em " Steven remarks thrusting the air
" ew steven, my eyes are burning " Aurora jokes covering her eyes " Oh you got jokes now huh? " Steven laughs chasing after aurora " STEVEN STOP! " Aurora laughs running away from him " Wow! no ones gonna help me? " Aurora laughs feeling steven gain on her
" You set yourself up for that one " Jeremiah laughs watching his sister try to escape steven. Finally steven puts aurora down " Belly is gonna be a debutante! " Susannah squeals walking into the kitchen
Aurora finally noticed belly standing right next to Laurel in the kitchen. " its not that big of a deal " belly muttered "I'm sorry. Like, Belly? Like, my sister? Like, that thing right there? " Steven laughs pointing at belly
" Shut up, cretin " belly remarks " Okay, this is gonna be so much fun— just you wait. There's the tea, the auction, the ball, and the rehearsal— we need to go shopping " Susannah rambles " This sounds... expensive " Laurel laughs nervously
" don't worry, laur. it's on me " Susannah assures " belly are you sure you wanna do this? it doesn't seem very you. " Laurel double checks " it's not " Conrad blurts from the couch " Conrad, could you please be a little more supportive?— Now, which one of you is gonna be Belly's escort to the ball? " Susannah asked
" not me. I went last year " Conrad grumbles " Yeah, and I swore off balls " Jeremiah laughs pausing for a minute realizing what he just said
"I could go with belly " Aurora volunteers making everyone stop and look towards her " What? its not like i have anything else to do and plus it would be fun to experience something new " Aurora explained quickly
" Wow, guys. Stop fighting over me— I'm not going with either of you, I am going to find my own date " belly giggles " no offense, beck, but I don't feel like a country club is the best place to teach belly about morals " Laurel exclaims
" Laur, times have changed— a girl is debbing this season, and she's bringing her girlfriend as her escort, and the club was fine with it. " Susannah finished
" wait really? that's cool " Aurora blurts excited that belly and her might be able to go to the ball together " yeah! why do you ask? " Susannah raises her eyebrow " no reason, "Aurora answered quickly. Susannah gives aurora a " we'll talk about this later " look before she finishes her conversation.
" well, hurry up! We have shopping to do and Lora you're coming with " Susannah urges
