as you can tell aurora and her dad don't have the best history. once conrad quit football he put all his energy into aurora and volleyball.
He pushed her to the point where volleyball wasn't even fun to her anymore— She remembers the day she told him she wanted to quit.
a few weeks before summer
They were sitting in the living room when aurora finally told him that she wanted to quit volleyball. it was like something had changed in his eyes. " you want to do what? " he took a deep breath "I want to quit volleyball it's not something I enjoy anymore— it's becoming more of a chore " She sighs
" so you want to throw away everything we-you worked on because it got a little hard? I thought you were better than that " He exclaimed " see this is why I want to quit because you just keep pushing and pushing until they break— you don't know when to stop " She yelled
" because you need to be pushed! you need to work harder that's why! you don't take anything seriously, you always quit " he stands up " and how did that work out for you? why do you think Conrad quit football? you don't know when to be a dad and when to be a coach " Aurora cursed
" you know what— I knew telling you was a bad idea, look at how you acting " Aurora sighs frustrated " as long as you live under this roof you will do what I say— you are NOT quitting volleyball " he argued.
it has always been about him— he tries to live vicariously through his kids
" Lora... you in here? " belly whispers opening her door. Aurora was sitting on the floor leaning against her bed " bells " She sniffles looking up at belly with tears in her eyes. belly instantly rushed to her side and trapped her in a bear hug.
Aurora just broke down in her arms " your okay Lora, everything will be fine. I promise " she whispered rubbing her back. Aurora was numb she couldn't even say anything back
" Listen don't worry about your dad— we are all heading down to the beach if you want to join us, you can also try my homemade Pomegranate margaritas " she smiles
Aurora nods, she needed something to help her ignore the fact that her dad is here " let's get you changed " Belly says pulling her into the closet
They went through tons of clothes finally they settled on a white flowy dress with white and beige sandals. for makeup, Aurora went with a white eyeliner that would make her brown eyes pop, a deep red blush, and her signature cherry lipgloss. she also had on her b necklace and a couple of rings
belly was fixing her dress in the mirror while aurora was sitting on the bed waiting for her " bells what are we? "She took a deep breath. belly froze like she didn't know what to say " what do you mean? we're friends " she smiles
" friends? friends don't make out with each other bels! "Aurora frowned at her words " what do you expect me to say? I'm confused my brain is telling me one thing and my heart is telling me another " Belly exclaims
" then listen to your heart— I know there's a part of you that likes me back bells "Aurora sighed. belly gives her an uncertain look " look we have to go, can we talk about this later? " she pleads
" fine— but you have to make me one of those drinks you were talking about "Aurora gives a weak smile
there was an awkward silence between the two as they walked down to the beach. belly had made a whole batch of pomegranate margaritas, she wasn't lying when she said it was good. Aurora had already had 2 of them at the house and she was slowly making her way to a third one
belly had suggested that they all play a drinking game— there was an odd number of people so aurora didn't participate in the game but watching them play was the funniest thing.
later on, the boys played cornhole while the girls and I danced and talked. Aurora was probably on her 5th drink— She couldn't even count how many belly must have had. at this point, everyone thought it was a good idea to head back
Aurora and the deb girls were all sitting together talking. Nicole was talking about conrad sending her mixed signals " I don't think he means to do it on purpose but he has a lot going on with college and our dad " Aurora tries to explain
as Nicole was about to say something back Cameron came and handed a very drunk belly a bottle of water. Aurora noticed how belly sort of ignored his presence and continued talking to the girls.
Everything was fine until belly started to ramble about Taylor, accidentally slipping up that Steven and Taylor kissed. " all right bells, I think its time we go inside and hydrate " Aurora spoke trying to stop her from telling any more secrets
" speaking of kissing did you guys know that me and Lora have kissed befor-- " belly was cut off by aurora slapping her hand on belly's mouth and dragging her away from the girls
Aurora sat belly on the couch while she got her some water. Aurora sat down beside belly handing her the water " Drink up bells! you need to sober up quick " Aurora says
Aurora couldn't believe belly had told them their secret. " Lora? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-- " belly whispered laying her head on aurora's lap " it's all right bells, I know you didn't mean it " Aurora played with belly's hair
Aurora and Belly sobered up a little bit before they headed back outside. they look up to see the girls packing their stuff. " Wait, everyone's leaving? tell them not to go " belly pointed " Shayla doesn't feel good, I think we had a little too much " Nicole explains
" Oh, well you know what, I feel great. let's do this again tomorrow " belly drunkenly speaks " all right bells " Aurora pulls belly back a little bit " belly, I'm gonna take off too, we can catch up when you're less... " Cameron starts to walk away
belly had walked away following Conrad, I guess she wanted to talk to him. Aurora was left alone once again and decided to chill out by the pool dipping her feet in
