The first time the Dagger Squad were introduced to Y/n "Shadow" Seresin, was a hot July night when the man sharing her name had one too many celebratory drinks after another successful detachment for the group. They decided the aforementioned celebration should take place at their beloved Hard Deck, and had converged on the location a few hours after leaving the base. It was Rooster who had put in the call that now led to y/n pulling up to the bar, climbing down from her lifted Toyota 4Runner and making her way inside.

As her eyes adjusted to the darker ambient lighting inside the bar, she removed her Rayban Clubmasters that had become her signature item during her own time spent at TOPGUN after Hangman's own class had graduated. She let her eyes drift around the room until she found the object of her search, one incredibly drunk Jake Seresin who was currently trying to entice Rooster into playing another round of pool against him. Y/n spared a quick nod toward Penny as she passed by the bar top, making her way to the corner. Rooster offered her a sympathetic smile as she walked up behind Hangman and put a gentle hand on his shoulder causing him to turn slightly to the side. She regarded the man with a soft smile,
"Hey Jake, think it's time to get you home honey."
The man seemed to suddenly sober and nodded, polishing off the rest of the lukewarm beer in the bottle he was holding.
"Your right, I'll go settle up with Penny."
As he started to step away from the group she stopped him with a soft grasp around his wrist,
"Why don't you say your goodbyes, I'll go take care of your tab."
Without leaving any room for argument she made her way over to the counter to pay for Jake's steadily climbing tab for the night. Meanwhile Jake leveled Rooster with a glare meant to kill,
"You called her?"
Rooster gave Hangman a clap on the shoulder and an apologetic smile,
"We both know you'd never listen to me if I tried getting you home on my own, and she's still the only one you will listen to."
Hangman shook his head at his supposed to be friends betrayal and turned back toward his namesake as she wrapped Rooster in a warm embrace, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"Thanks for calling Roost, I'll call you later."
The mysterious woman put a hand to the back of the taller man she had come to collect and guided him through the door to the parking lot.

The other aviators left in the bar who had been looking between one another in confusion turned to Rooster with Phoenix deciding to speak first,
"Who was that and why did she call him Jake instead of Hangman, and why did he leave with her like a lost little puppy?"
Rooster gave his dark haired friend a smirk looking around at the expectant faces all waiting for his answer,
"Oh that was y/n, she's Hangman's ex wife."
