Abby and I sit down in two seats at the back of the class.
"you looked like you needed saving", Abby says.
"I did. Thanks", I reply. Then Zavier enters the class and sits in the desk in front of mine.
I'm about to continue my investigation on what he was thinking about in class, When the teacher, Mr Owens, walks in and starts taking attendance.
The door slams open, and in walks Marcus. This kid got luck like no one else. Because right as he sits down, in front of Abby, Mr Owens calls "Mr King?".
"Here", Marcus calls out, Winking at my dumbfounded expression And at Abby's eye roll.
How does he do it?
Another mystery of the universe I guess.
"dude! Where were you?", Abby Whispers, After attendance was taken.
"with Iris", Marcus replies, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Oh", Abby says, deflating slightly. Neither Marcus or Zavier seem to notice.
"Dude!", Zavier says, giving Marcus a low high five. I look at him in confusion. Since when do we support Marcus and Iris's relationship, If you can really call it that. More on that later.
As if sensing my gaze, Zavier, turns to face me slightly grimacing. He's just being supportive of his best friend.
Marcus has a troubled look on his face. " If only I could come up with a nickname for her", He mumbles.
"Oh my gosh", Abby says, Taking out a compact mirror to check her makeup, "It's not her fault that you're too lazy to call people by their full names."
"Well Abigail, It saves well-needed time", Marcus said defensively.
"Maybe you should invest that time in your creativity, because it clearly needs work", Abby reports.
"Oh yeah? What names can you come up with, If you're so creative.", Marcus says.
Abby Grins, "You want to bet", She challenges him.
"Oh yeah you're on", Marcus says confidently.
They agree on five bucks.
"Ris, Rissy, Issy, isa, is, si, and even sisi if you're feeling fancy.", Abby finishes smugly. She is clearly proud of herself.
Marcus stares at her. Zavier And I Also stare at her. I didn't think about half of those names. Based on Zavier's reaction he had thought of even less.
Wordlessly, Marcus Hands Abbey $5.
" Miss Thomas", Booms Mr Owens, " Since you seem to be able to chat over my lesson, Please solve the equation on the board, Or should I let you finish checking your reflection?".

Abby Narrows her eyes slightly. They grow even narrower when she hears some of the nerds snickering in the front.
"Glad, sir", She answers, with a sickenly sweet smile on her face.
Marcus, Zavier And I discreetly shake our heads. They would learn from assuming about her soon enough.
Sure enough, after solving the equation, she sachays back to her desk.

Mr Owens stares at the board, Then at Abby, Then at the board again, His mouth is slightly open.
The nerds at the front turn around and stare at Abby in admiration.
But, They quickly turn around when they see Marcus's death glare. For someone who only thought of Abby as a friend, He was pretty boyfriend protective, when he caught other boys looking at her.
Abby now had a smile on her face for an entirely different reason.
" Thank you Ms Thomas.", Mr Owens stammers, clearly embarrassed.
He should be.
He turns around to continue his lesson, And I high five Abby.
She girlbossed, and I thought, not for the first time, that I wanted to be her when I grew up.
