Chapter 13) Look who's back

I'm in my room thinking about the day. The ride home was really silent.

Ever since Zavier found out that he wouldn't get to talk to Iris until next Monday, He'd been really quiet.

He must really love her.

I heave out a sigh.

I've liked Zavier for so long. It's not like I had a following of suitors, but I had turned down a few guys because of my love for him.

I still remember when I realized when I fell in love with him. We were 13.

And to all those people who say that too young to fall in love?

Screw them.

I knew what I felt. Maybe I had always been in love and had only just realized it.

We were just hanging out. Then, Zavier had looked at me with that beautiful smile, and said,

"Bridge, I'm really happy I know you."

Out of the blue.

I'd felt a strange feeling in my stomach. It was about even more powerful than the usual butterflies.

That was when I knew what I felt for Xavier was stronger than a crush. I've felt that way ever since.

I felt a tear roll down my cheek. how unfair was it, that I felt so strongly about him and he was in love with someone else.

If I'm being honest about this, I know that I just want him to be happy.

Even if it's not with me.

What hurts the most though, is the fact that it's Lila he's happy with.

At least if it was someone nice, then I could see the appeal. I could try to be comforted by the fact the love of my life is with someone who treats him the way he deserves.

But Lila is the opposite.

And that's definitely what hurts most.

I wake up to a buzz from my phone.

I must have fallen asleep earlier.

I look at the time on my watch. 4:32.

Mom must be home, because she was only supposed to work until 4:00 today.

She must have let me sleep.

I remember then that my phone woke me up in the first place, so I should probably check it.

I look at the name and I freeze.

My birthday is not until next month.

Christmas is even farther away.

So what does my father want?
