Chapter 12) What's on his mind

I hold back another sigh.

Zavier seems to be deep and thought, and I really want to ask him what's on his mind. But thanks to the stupid seating plan, I can't. The only good thing about it all is that I now have a good view of Zavier's amazing side profile.

I can look at it without being obvious. How can one Look so incredibly hot?

I dream about that jawline. And those lashes? So incredibly long and thick. Combine it with that curly brown hair, dimples and summer tan?

Well you can see why some girls actually drool When he passes by.

And now I can look without being obvious.

Or so I thought.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." an annoying voice says beside me. I look to the left, and I look into the cold green eyes of evil's first in command.

I hold in a grown. out of all the people to catch me staring, it had to be her. I didn't even remember she was sitting beside me.

I had barely glanced at my neighbors when I sat down. "Wipe the drool off your chin. He's taken remember?", She continues grinning evily at me.

"I don't think Lila would appreciate you staring so hungryly at her boyfriend.", She says with a tilt of her head.

Of course you'll go repeat to Lila, because God forbid you just keep anything to yourself. If you know, Lila has to know.

It isn't even in a bestie gotta know kinda way. Iris might think Lila is her BFF, but doesn't she think it's coincidence that Lila only happened to start talking to her when she started dating Zavier? Like Lila obviously using Iris to get intel on our group since she's around Marcus so much.

My bet is that as soon as Lila and Zavier are done, so is the friendship between Lila and Iris. But I'm not going to be the one to tell her that.

God knows I don't get paid enough for the amount of drama that'll cause, that I would undoubtedly be sucked into.

Thankfully the bell rings before I can say anything. "Instead of staring at another girl's boyfriend, why don't you try to find your own? That is, if any guy would be desperate enough to want a potato looking girlfriend?", Iris venomously spits, before sashaying away.

I stare after her in disbelief. This was the girl Marcus liked? when Abby existed?

really? 

I don't want to force him to like her, but if it wasn't going to be her, why couldn't it be someone nice? We have a lot here at the school.

So why out of all of them, did he pick Iris?

Why do my two boy best friend have such bad taste in girls?

Speaking of boy best friends, the other just left the class.

I wonder why he didn't wait for me.

Whatever.

I need to get to math class anyway.

Abby meets me outside of homeroom. She can tell straight away something is wrong. I tell her about the encounter with Iris as we walk to math class and by the time we go to our spots, Abby is fuming beside me. 

"That biatch!", she whisper-yells. She looks pissed. 

"She better watch her back. I know karate, kung fu, judo and at least five other dangerous words!" Abby fumes.

"Yeah" I reply sarcastically. "The mere sound  of those martial arts will send shivers down her spine." 

"Besides,", I continue shooting her an incredulous look, "Are you sure you're beating her up solely in my honor? No ulterior motives at all?", I finished with a smirk on my face.

"Okay" Abby reluctantly admits. "Maybe it would be a bit revenge motivated but this is definitely part of it.", She says.

I look at her and we both burst into giggles. The goofball always manages to make me laugh. I'm so glad that we're friends.

Just then, Zavier and Marcus enter the class discussing something quietly. Marcus looks worried and Zavier just looks annoyed. 

Abby and I shrug at each other and turn back to the boys. "What's up?" I question when they sit in their seats in front of us .

"Zavier can't find Lila.", Marcus explains 

"Lila is here today?" Abby asks. " Why wouldn't she be?", I ask.

"Well, she wasn't in homeroom so I just assumed she was absent." Abby explained. 

"We saw her this morning though.", I say

"hopefully You'll tell her mom this time.", Abby says, barely keeping a straight face. I let a giggle loose.

"Ha.Ha", Zavier says blushing a bit. "Seriously, I need to tell her something." he says worriedly.

It's not like Zavier to say something like that and not elaborate, but before I can question him further, Marcus shoots me a glance and it tells me not to push it.

I wonder what it is, but no matter how curious I am, if Marcus is saying don't push it I won't.

Abby opens her mouth to say something else, and I see a flash of reluctance in her expression, as if she doesn't want to say what she's about to say. 

But as soon as it comes it's gone.

"Why don't you ask Iris?" She suggests."why?", Marcus questions.

I start to catch on. "Lila and Iris are best friends.", I say putting emphasis on the words best and friends.I see Abby trying not to smirk, but the boys seem oblivious.

Marcus's eyes widen in realization, and he starts typing on his phone, Zavier peering at the screen too.

While they do that, I squeeze Abby's thigh sympathetically. I know it must have been hard for her to suggest Marcus in any way contacting Iris, no matter the reason. 

But being her, she puts Zavier's interest in front of her own. She was always putting others before herself. It was one of the things I loved about her.

Which is one of the reasons why I can't understand why Marcus would choose Iris over her. 

It's like choosing a rotten apple over a juicy, ripe, red one.

It's something common sense wouldn't allow you to do.

Yet here, we have exhibit A ; Marcus king.

How someone so academically gifted could be so street dumb, I can't imagine.

Suddenly Marcus looks up. "Iris says Lila is at a resort till next week. It's supposed to relieve stress so guests Had to give up their electronics." 

Zavier groans, banging his head on his desk.

I want to know what could be so important that he needs to tell her, 

but then Mr Owens comes in, and we all know better than to try to talk in his class. So the mystery goes unsolved.
