I awoke a few hours later to the sounds of someone trying to wake me up. Once my vision cleared, I saw that it was Sarah, she seemed to be crying.
"Daddy, daddy, please wake up!"
I sit up and look at Sarah. "Wh-what's wrong? What happened?"
"T-the lady.. She.. She.."
"It's okay, Sarah. Take your time."
"Daddy, I know that lady.. She attacked my family.."
"You're kidding."
"I'm not.."
"Come here.."
I gave her a hug. She sniffled and wiped her tears away.
"Sarah, do you know where the others are? Your sister, our friends?"
"They're all hiding.. I told them I wanted to go find you.."
"Good thing you didn't get hurt."
I released her from my arms. She looked at me.
"What are we going to do..?"
"The woman in the white cloak, do you know where she went?"
"In the forest, I think.."
She pointed a shaky finger at the dark forest. I stand up and stare into the forest.
"Are you going to hurt her..?"
"I can definitely try, but it probably won't be easy, seeing she is a creation powerful enough to take control of the God Box way back when."
"What's the God Box..?"
"Basically it was this big big box that when opened, tried to destroy our world. But don't worry, your mama and her friends destroyed it."
"That's good."
"Anyway, I'm gonna want you to go hide somewhere, alright?"
"But I wanna go with you.."
"Why?"
"So I dont have to be scared of you dying.."
"Sarah, I care more about you than my own well being. You're young, you still have your life ahead of you."
"But daddy, I want to help.. I dont want to seem useless.."
I took a moment to think about this. I sigh and kneel down toward her.
"Now, if I take you with me, will you promise to always stay by me and never stray off?"
"I promise."
"And do you promise that, if anything bad were to happen, you hide somewhere to take cover?"
"Promise."
"Good. Like I said, I dont want you getting hurt. Or worse.."
"Yeah. I understand."
I pick Sarah up and look at her.
"Got hold of me?"
"Yeah."
"Just let me know if you need anything during the trip."
"Okay."
"Alright. Lets go."
