CHAPTER 4

Kyla's PoV

"What?! I'm dropping out?!" Gulat na tanong ko, he looked at me and shook his head no.

"No. You're just going to study from home. You know, getting modules from your school like how they continued studying back in 2020." He explained. I looked at him straight in the eye and tried to read his mind.

"You've got to be kidding me. No, I don't want to experience that again. Wala akong masyadong natutunan noon, how am I supposed to get good grades kung sa handouts lang ako aasa?" I asked. Nagtinginan silang dalawa ni Kenneth bago tumingin muli sa akin.

"Edi dapat hindi ka na nag-apply simula pa nung una." Sambit ni Kenneth sa akin, I looked at him straight in the eye and said,

"Edi dapat hindi n'yo ako ini-hire." I said.

"Edi wala kang pambuhay sa pamilya mo?" Sagot nung lalaki na nagpakilala bilang si Aaron.

"Bakit, ikaw lang ba pwedeng maghire sa 'kin?" I saw him bit his lip after hearing that. I smirked and looked at Kenneth. He cleared his throat.

"Edi maghahanap ka ulit ng hiring company?" Tanong n'ya. My smirk disappeared.

"I'm already hired in a coffee shop." I said before sighing. "Can we just stop?"

"That's what I want, pero sagot ka nang sagot at hindi nalang pumayag. You want a job but you also want to study. You want to be my secretary but you're not working. You want to feed your family but you're not working. So, anong gusto mong gawin? Mag-aral lang? Do you think you'll gain money by just studying?" Aaron said. I bit my tongue since I didn't want to talk and I don't have anything to say. "Ako na nga ang gumawa ng paraan para mabalance mo ang pag-aaral at pagtatrabaho mo, ang dami mo pang angal." I looked down.

"Aaron, calm down." I heard Kenneth whispered.

"Shut the fuck up." He hissed. "Hey, look at me." I looked at him with teary eyes. His eyes softened as he saw that.

I can sense that he will make me choose between my study or work.

"You will continue studying and I'll fire you, or just agree with what I suggested moments ago?" He said.

Bull's eye.

I looked down and started to think. Kung ipagpapatuloy ko ang pag-aaral at matanggal na lang sa trabaho na 'to, it'll be okay 'cause I still have the chance to work at the coffee shop.

Pero sayang ito. I get to marry him and take what my parents left. I also get to have high salary being a whole scheduled secretary.

Ah, fuck. If I'm whole scheduled, then I won't have the time to do my modules.

Bahala na.

"I agree." Maikling sambit ko. I looked at him, he looked at me.
