dahlia was raised much differently from other royals, seeing as how both of her parents grew up outside of royalty. in fact, her father would've been shipped off to the isle of the lost if he hadn't married her mother.
she wasn't forced to attend royal balls or take private lessons on how to be the perfect princess. of course, she had the occasional press conference seeing as how she would be queen one day.
but her parents only ever had one request. she had to come home and see the floating lanterns each year. and each year, as she sat with her mother and father as they held onto each other tight, she wished for one thing.
she wished for someone to watch the floating lanterns with. she longed for a lover more than anything, especially when she saw the way her father looked at her mother.
alas, she had found no one to stand by her side as she watched the glowing lanterns float away. and year after year she stood alone with an empty heart.
but then she met a pirate who took her breath away as quickly as her hair grew. a pirate who made her so flustered she accidentally gave him her favourite lipgloss.
and she had no idea if she would ever get it back.
