*(Y/N) POV*
We walked through the doors of the Master's estate, guided by one of his children. I found my way back towards Rengoku, seeing as he was my teacher. When we entered the room with Master we all bowed before kneeling in front of him.
"Children. I see you all have had an eventful week off thus far," Oyakata-sama spoke.
Sanemi, of course, was the first to speak, "On behalf of us all, we are sorry for the events that have taken place."
"Nonsense. No need to apologize," Oyakata-sama started again, "I will be addressing everything. First, I would just like to say, despite your rankings please do respect all members of the corps. Regardless of whom they may have had relations with prior." I looked down at my hands and began twisting my ring. Of course, he knew about that. He knows about everything.
I looked back up as he began speaking again, "Second, I would like to address (Y/N)'s reason for being here." I looked at him confused. I could feel everyones eyes on me.
"(Y/N), you know partially of your familial background yes?" I nodded my head. "Please, tell us what you do know."
"Well, all I know is that my family used to be a part of the Demon Slayer corps but to escape something they ran to America. Since then, the oldest of each generation has become the "chosen" one in passing down Water Breathing. They also were to create a style of breathing, but I was never told what style because they sent me here," I explained again. I had already told the hashira this when I first arrived. Master continued, "What about your control?"
My eyes widened and I felt a lump in my throat, remembering what my father told me. No one could know about that... how does Master know. "Please, explain that to us."
"I, um..." I have to tell the truth. He'll know if I'm lying. "Well, the "chosen" one has this thing were when they become overwhelmed by emotions, it can be to protect themselves or someone else, they lose control. It's basically like the world doesn't exist except for your target. I wasn't able to learn to control it, but my uncle and grandfather were."
Everyone looked shocked, like it was all making sense to them. Master nodded, "The reason you were unable to control it is because you hadn't found your calm." I looked at him puzzled. My calm? What does he mean by that?
"Your predecessors found their calm. Your calm is a person that can pull you out of your uncontrolled state. They are the only one able to break through your trance and the only one able to get through." Everyone kept their eyes on me, "Typically, this person -" "My aunt. My grandma. They are their calm." Master nodded his head, "That is correct. However, no one has been able to find their calm so young. You were the first."
My eyes went down to my ring and I started playing with it. No. There was no way that it could be.
"So what, her and Tomioka-san have to get married or something now?" Shinobu questioned him. "Not necessarily. However, when she is in a high stake situation, it would probably be best for Tomioka-san to be present, yes." I shook my head. There was no way.
Why didn't my family tell me that was how I had to control it? Why just send me away? Why not tell me anything about who I am and how to succeed? If they want me to break this generational curse so bad, why not tell me anything?
"Now, for this next part, it may be best if Tomioka-san does sit with (Y/N)," Master told us. My head snapped back up. Giyuu remained in his spot next to Shinobu. "Respectfully Oyakata-sama, I'd rather him sit where he is. We need to see everything for what it is," Shinobu spoke. Of course, she just wants to be with Giyuu. Which doesn't even matter, nothing can be worse than what I already heard.
"Alright. The next topic to discuss is your breathing style. You are unable to master Rain Breathing because that is not the breathing you are supposed to create and master." Rengoku's mouth dropped, "Have you known the breathing style this whole time Master?" He nodded his head.
His child came out with my blade and handed it to me. "I sent for it while you were on your way here. Please, take it out." Sanemi interrupted me unsheathing my sword, "Um, I don't think it's a great idea considering we don't know if she can control herself Master."
"Well, I did inform you all it would be best if Tomioka-san sits with her. (Y/N), please continue." I took the blade out and it looked normal. The blue shade shining in the candle light. "There is a piece at the bottom, have you ever tried to push on that before?" I looked at the sword, seeing a small engraving at the bottom. It looked like a wisteria flower outline. "No, I figured it was just something that the sword smith engraved into it."
He nodded his head, "Press it." I did and I felt something prick my finger, "Ouch." I brought my finger up to my mouth, tasting the blood that slowly dripped out. The hashira all had their eyes on me and my blade, and we all watched as it changed from blue to a shade of purple. My eyes widened, "Wait. Why is it changing?"
Oyakata-sama let out a small chuckle, "You are a legacy Water Breather, which is the blue color that you initially started with. However, you are meant to become a Blood Breather."
"Blood Breathing?! Is that even a thing?" "How could someone use Blood Breathing?" "Why Blood Breathing?" All of the hashira were asking questions. "Children, I will explain. Please calm down."
Everyone silenced, I sheathed my sword, and let Master continue, "Your family has had one person come close to mastering the style. There are eleven forms, all of which you will know when you begin training. It comes naturally for you all. Most struggle to get past five, however your grandfather was able to master nine forms. The eleventh form is the hardest form to master. It requires a lot of control of your emotions and focus."
"But Master, why does she need her blood and why Blood Breathing?" Rengoku asked.
"Well, children, (Y/N) is part demon." My stomach dropped. I'M WHAT?!
